What's the difference between the version 2.2 and the version 2.0?

0.2

Something like that, yes.
According to MSI documentation the later versions were supposed to come with a 4-pin J3 jumperblock as opposed to the earlier 3-pin variant but I have not seen evidence for it in photos.

Only pic I ever found with the 4-pin jumperblock was this one, and despite other sites saying they were introduced with v2.3 this one is v2.1 (tho that does tie in with the installation manual version with 4 pins) - hell, it's easier to find pics of the MS6905 v3 Twin and I'm not sure it was even released.

Interesting, thanks.
It thus seems that MSI (re-)marketed the earlier v2 3-pin pcb with stickers that read: v2.2 and v.2.3.

How about an asshole that produces new Voodoo5 6000 cards ?

Sorry for commenting on this older statement, but I just had to.....

Why is that person an asshole? I mean, like what? Hope you were joking.

Then what about all other hardware recreations or newly made systems? Like the GUS here on Vogons or other soundcards. Like these newly recreated Amiga and Commodore64 machines.

People normally use donor machines or cards, because half of the item might be dead, but if the main chips are still working, should they not get a new chance of operating again?

Yes it was a joke, the guy is exceptionally talented, to take an old GPU and reverse engineer it and rebuild it using new components and modern methods is really quite amazing. Not many V5 6000s made it to market so to see it resurrected like this for modern systems makes me very happy.

If I could afford a new V5 6000 I would happily buy one from him, they are sadly even further out of my reach than the V5 5500s listed on eBay are 🙁

There's newly made, fully assembled V5 6000's for sale? Where, what form factor, and what cost? Got pics? Thanks.

IIRC they are not being mass produced and atm I dont know if he is selling them by invite or not but last a read that was how he was doing it and they are not cheap, they also have the same bugs the original V5 6000 has, including SLI issues.

I love the White PCB one, it looks like it might be PCI or PCIe via a bridge chip . .im not sure, but the white one is AGP, the black PCB with the golden copper heatsinks also looks amazing.

Thanks! Cost is noted here, https://www.modlabs.net/forum/topic/60674/ "Sales will start soon. Estimated price tag - 1500$ US." That's way too rich for me.

Yes, I have seen these cards and read the articles. Personally I am more into building Commodore replica's at this point in life. I will probably do an Amiga 500++ board at some time. Unless chip prices are gone through the roof. I had issues finding cheap NOS C64 chips for my last build.

True.... Every modern recreation of past systems, as close to original are great. Like ATX64, SixtyClone, KU-Board, ReAmiga (1200 clone), A4000ATX and 2000ATX are nice stuff. No matter if you do one your self or follow a build progress on YouTube.

Here's an adapter I haven't seen in quite awhile, boxed Powerleap P3/SMP Server pair. They were one of the better dual slot1-to-Tualatin upgrade adapters. I owned this kit in 2001, however my system would hang up every few days. Turns out the issue was that one of the fans would stop spinning, but if I power cycled the system, the fan would spin up again. I contacted Powerleap about this and they told me that had quality control issues with the fans. So if you bought this adapter, keep this in mind.

I sold my kit in 2006 for $85 on eBay. This unit says it just sold for $500 USD. https://www.ebay.com/itm/393883619162

Was there much difference between the MSI MS-6905 and this Powerleap kit?

So this would be a PL-iP3/T with support for 133 MHz and SMP.

Take care with the caps on these Powerleap adaptors. Half of mine have burst caps.

Is this too much voodoo?

Doesnt look like it would be hard to replace, for most retro enthusiasts this wouldnt be a reason to not buy it, its on the expensive side however.

Those upgrade CPU held value for a decade or so after they ceased to be relevant, so although some maybe sold cheaper for a few years, I'm not so sure that's real crazy pricing. Okay, it's crazy pricing for anyone capable of putting together a better system, or modding a board to take better CPUs but not crazy pricing as far as what normies would/have paid for these things.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

The main difference is that the MSI MS-6905 'family' does not support Tualatin cpu's out of the box.

AMD K5-PR200 just sold for $535 + $11.60 shipping. I was told that the last one of these sold for $800, so I'm guessing for the present listing, the sellers poor rating of 75% and the chip's condition played a factor.

the powerleaps support SMP and tualatin voltages out of the box, they automatically downstep the voltage provided by the motherboard regardless of what it is and they have a 3 pin fan header/circuit/temperature sensor on them

I did a bit of cursory research on cloning one of these tualatin slotket designs and estimated building about 1000 of them would cost roughly $25 apiece in materials/PCBs, so might do it as they'd probably sell all day to enthusiasts for $75ish and all the companies that made them are defunct. if I actually do move forward with it I'd probably sell bare PCBs with a BOM at cost.
