I know there are some Vogons members who are electronic musicians who use various DAWs. I used to be a HUGE Ensoniq user when it came to synths and samplers in the late 80s and throughout the 90s. The classic Ensoniq SQ80 has just been reborn as a 64-bit VST/VST3 plugin for your DAW and it's completely free. Just FYI.

Damn, nice. Never messed with an original Ensoniq instrument before, but this will be fun to try out.
I'm moving more and more towards in-the-box for this kind of stuff, having hardware is tons of fun but the space requirements and constant fiddlyness of 30-year-old, nth-hand gear gets old when I just want to make some music.

I have a sort of synthwave/prog rock project on the go that this might slot nicely into. 😉

meh... nothing more than a sampleset recorded from another older discontinued VST, also free, which is actually a really good SQ80 clone:

unfortunately it's 32bit only and the dev is not really active

Oh whatever, it's a great plugin regardless. I used the old version for numerous years and you still can with jBridge middleware. Have used this in numerous productions and it's great. I highly recommend anyone who uses a DAW to add it to their arsenal of sounds.
