Sitting here with this puny 😉 3950x since Nov when I upgraded from my 6700k since I couldn't get a 5950x.

I waited forever to buy AMD again for my desktop (Last was Athlon XP for desktop, I did by a
AMD EPYC 7351P 16-Core for my server in 2019 which is stable and going strong) due to issues I've had in the past with them (mostly chipset) and then that Zen 3 USB issue popped up. Haven't noticed it with my 3950x. Definetly not going to be an Alpha tester for their next product so 5950x it is when they are msrp.

I'm still mostly happy with my i5-4590S but a bit more power would be nice.

Nice! I was going to get a 5800x and a 3080 this year, but with chip shortages, scalpers prices, and import tarrifs (US) I have decided to just wait two years and by the next generation instead.

I think the chip shortage will likely last well into next year.

I am now on a Ryzen 3800x. I am itching inside to get a Zen3 chip but I still cannot get over the price/performance ratio.
If I end up buying one, it's less about need but more about fun.
I missed the days that every PC was screaming for more performance even with the top of the line CPU.
