Hello everyone,

Just found this interesting list and thought it may interest you, too.

https://www.mattmontag.com/flat-shaded-3d-polygon-games

It's about the Star Fox (Star Wing) type of 3D games, essentially.

Have fun

Glad you like it! ^^

Btw, if you like the atmosphere, it's called "Liminal Space".
A slightly mysterious, uncanny atmosphere.
Something in between reality and unreality.

The feeling of being stranded in a dead or empty world. Nothing moves, no sound..
Hah, that instantly reminds me of the 90s film Langoliers.. 🙂

LHX, Stunts and Test Drive III were great titles of my old msdos gaming past. Lately I tried with the real hardware the Mega Drive (Genesis) version of LHX which is impressive technically but running at like 5-10fps of speed. 😉

Thanks for writing back! 😄

I fondly remember playing Test Drive IlI and that Ford Simulator in the 90s!

Now that you mention LHX..
I remember it from reading an older thread about Genesis/MD mods.

Makes me wonder how nicely it would play on an 68010 Mega Drive..
Because, the 68010 really helps when it comes to computing 3D objects.

If you like, I could perform a test of LHX for you on a 10MHz setup in a couple of days. ^^

I suppose any cpu clock improvement would be immediately visible on those far too heavy games. 😉
Even without overclocking there were also some very impressive titles running incredibly well on that and the first one I'd remember is the 1994 Kawasaki Superbike Challenge game which is a racing game miracle considering the hw limitations and running on the Motorola cpu and not using any secondary on-PCB cpu like the SVP chip (which was impressive itself but expensive and didn't see more than a single game using it anyway when at least Doom should have been released on it like the SNES).

True. I couldn't agree more. There's already a video of it running at 10 Mc/s.. Just crazy. 😯

Great game, even if I wonder if that test was done running also with a menu option (a sort of "Turbo" option) that increased a bit the frame rate already in both versions and decreased a bit the game complexity. I'm not sure cause some time has passed.

link?

This. Bought it last week.

And yes, flat-shaded 3D polygon games have their own charm, especially when they have SVGA resolution. I particularly love Hornet 3.0 and A-10 Cuba.
