I've been having this issue with running Unreal and UT99 through dgVoodoo's glide wrapper where the game will hitch for about 5-10 seconds, usually upon loading into a map. Like, I'll have loaded in, I look around for a moment, and then it just freezes. The weird thing is that it does seem to go away after playing a bit, but just when I think it's gone, I play the next day and the hitching is back (probably comes back after a reboot). This doesn't seem to happen with other games that I use dgVoodoo's glide with, only Unreal and UT99. Does anyone know a way to fix this?

Why not use the direct 3d 10 or opengl renderer instead of dgVoodoo2 ?
Direct3D 10 Renderer for Unreal Engine 1 / 1.5 (Unreal, UT 99, Deus Ex)

Also, look up the OldUnreal patchs, both for Unreal and UT99. It fixes a lot of problems:

I use the steam version + old unreal patch + opengl renderer without any issue.
In my experience, it also still offers the choice to use the Glide, D3D9, XOpenGl, and Software renderers (at least for UT99).

Should also mention that the Unreal Tournament patch is relatively new (end of 2020). I thought no one was patching Unreal Tournament any longer, and suddenly a fix to make the game actually work well in 4K (earlier I used 1080p + DxWnd to force resolution, but that has occasional glitches).
