Hello

Thanks for the reply.
Could you let me know where the bios is? I have chip programmer for bios flashing and think worth trying.
As for video, I plan to use VLB video card and it does not matter if onboard video is not working.

Thanks.

All the images are here. The folders already correspond to the chipset names, but more detailed descriptions are in the spreadsheet.

There's a snapshot here. It's five months old, but I don't think a lot has changed for OPTi chipsets since then.

As for video, I plan to use VLB video card and it does not matter if onboard video is not working.

I never did anything like that, but I did have a case where I needed to burn a 64KB MRBIOS image to a motherboard that expects a 128KB one. In that case you need to fill the extra 64KB with FFFFFs — look at the image OPTI50C in my folder as an example. Whether it needs to be in the beginning or the end in your case, I don't know — maybe someone else has successfully replaced a combo BIOS with a non-combo one.

BTW, could you please upload your current BIOS file here? I will submit it to The Retro Web. Seems to be a pretty uncommon board, so it's worth documenting.

Here is the bios, I could read bios with setting chip as AT27C010 and its 128kB
Please check if it is valid or not.

BTW, I couldn't access MR BIOS folder of dropbox that you attached. Could you check it?

Yes, seems like it's a proper image and it does contain the video BIOS. Thanks!:

Do you know the name of the system this board came with? Is it Hyundai Solomon?

It was produced by Hyundai Electronics in Korea. It seems it was released in 1994 and the Model name is “Hyundai Solomon Merit Green”

Succeeded!

MR BIOS 3.21 did not boot but 2.01 and 3.01 boot up well. (I have no spare 27C010 chip, when I get UV eraser I will try again, it could be flashing was not proper)
Original BIOS is configured with VGA BIOS in first 64kB and AMIBIOS in the later 64kB. So I used hex editor to merge 1st 64kB with VGA BIOS and the later 64kB with MR BIOS.
Now it can recognize 8GB CF well and also can adjust wait state. (Originally NSSI benchmark was 17,717 dhrystones/s and now its 18,448 dhrystones with wait state 0)
But I wonder how I can enable L2 cache . There is jumper setting on the mainboard and installed 256kB (9 KM68257CP-15 32K*8 Bit, including tag ram) but it was not working originally and still no option to enable it.

Have you tried external tools to check L2 cache? Attached cachechk, pretty much the go-to tool for this.

I'd also try the image for OPTi 895 as the last resort. I think 895 and 802G are very close (the difference is mainly the memory configuration), and 802 should be just 802G without the "green" features.

I found that if device is properly set, MR BIOS shows information or option menu to adjust that property. Currently cache ram menu is not shown that means there are problems. I checked some line tracing from cache ram socket but failed to find any breaks. And also tried several cache rams but in vain.

Now, I removed all cache rams from mainboard because there are memory problems. Especially when writing dozens minutes, it occurred memory problem and rebooted. Also when soft reset sometimes it did not boot well, I had to completely power off and restart from power on.

Without cache ram installed, those errors are completely gone.

JFYI: Yet another Mr.BIOS for 286:

Mr.BIOS v.1.65 for 286

There are users on this board that post items to TRW so this may likely already be widely known.

This may have already been answered but outside of manuals is there an actual MR. BIOS BIOS available for the Micronics JX30G motherboard? I saw the manuals posted a bit back. I also looked through the list of boards but did not see these particular boards listed. If anyone can point me to a BIOS file it would be appreciated! TIA!

It uses a Forex chipset, so try a version that for that chipset.

I can report that the Zida 5DHX rev 1.2 works with V098B5WK meant for Jetway J-656HXA (aka AZZA PT-5IH, Acorp 5HX4, Acorp 586HX, Proteam).

I sifted through the spreadsheet looking for every BIOS meant for Intel 430HX and Winbond 877 (about 10) and of those I looked at the similarities with my board, in particular the ones with the option for a second TAG chip and of those I picked that Jetway with the reasoning/hunch that given the many aliases it seemed a pretty generic board so maybe the BIOS itself was also generic enough.

It actually worked first try so I don't know if there is a better fit, but I can say this seem to work and boots both DOS and Windows 3.11.

On another note, is there any hope for my Octek FOX M 286 (Headland GC101,GC102)?

I also have the exact same motherboard, the 1.2 revision. I will also give this a try and report back!
