When I use Windows 3.1 File Manager, any year that begins with "0" (zero) is replaced by another character such as a semicolon or less than symbol. It looks like this: ";5" for "2005."

The Date/Time app shows the proper info, as does the BIOS.

This hasn't been a problem until today, when I tried to install WinZip 6.3. It says that the date of the SETUP.EXE does not match that of the README.TXT and aborts the installation. I assume this has to do with the zero issue, but maybe not.

Any help appreciated!

Hi! Did you apply the Y2K patches to Windows 3.1 already ?

They were part of the Microsoft Year 2000 Resource CD..

I didn't even know it existed! I downloaded it from archive.org and burned a CD. However, when I put it in my DVD drive, there is only a 200 byte README file (even though the .ISO was 462 MB).

It is readable on my Windows 10 computer. However, there are lots of directories and folders, but none that are obviously for Windows 3.1 (lots of 95-era patches).

Do you happen to know which one works with Windows 3.1?

Based on this thread, it seems like there was a version of the CD with a \WIN30 directory, but the April 1999 and June 1999 versions of the CD don't have it.

Look for post from Ira Sterbakov:

I can confirm that my original CD has a WIN3X folder.. It's the German version, though.
Anyway, maybe the KB numbers are helpful in locating the English patches.
- I attach the files below for you.

Thank you! It looks like the files are direct replacements for the File Manager executable. When I double click it, I get File Manager in German, but the dates are now all correct.

I'll try to hunt down the English versions.
