I just installed DOS and it doesn't have mouse.com
Where can I find some mouse drivers?
I remember back in 90s using files like smouse etc
Where can I get a driver?

This one should cover most mice:

What is that?
ctmouse
Pretty much the smallest footprint mouse driver available.
If CuteyMouse fails, you can also try these period-correct drivers :

Should I run it under DOS?
Does it edit my autoexec/config.sys so its there when rebooted?
Or do I always need to run this exe when I want mouse in DOS?
Ideally you would add it to autoexec.bat so it runs on each boot.
See my graphics card database at www.gpuzoo.com
Constantly being worked on. Feel free to message me with any corrections or details of cards you would like me to research and add.
I added etc, ran it, cursor show up but my mouse is not responding.
I wonder if its faulty mouse.
I have IBM ps/2 mouse plugged via ps/2-Serial adapter to serial port.
I tried pmouse, also doesn't work.
Are you sure that PS/2 mouse is serial-compatible?
Not all PS/2 mice can be used with such adapter, and I think some may even get damaged - PS/2 is 5 Volt, serial is 12 Volt...

I second that. PS/2 mice have to actively support the other modes. Most adapters are just mechanical adapters.
Modern optical PS/2 mice usually support PS/2 and USB, while classic PS/2 mice support PS/2 and RS-232.
Very old mice from the PS/2 era may support PS/2 only.
Modern USB mice, by comparison, support USB only or USB+PS/2, but never serial.
Old serial mice may or may not PS/2 mode. Depends if they are actually PS/2 mice with a serial chord or not, I think.

Hmmm... I don't know, need to search for it...
It is IBM 33G5430 mouse.
I have Asus P5A-B motherboard, also have USB/MIR card, but only with USB sockets, no PS/2.
Is there a way to add PS/2 socket to this board?

Hi, according to this site, "ps2mouse.zip" is the original driver for DOS:
http://greyghost.mooo.com/pccbbs/options/ps2mouse.zip
Not sure if it supports the serial port, though. It seems to be intended for the IBM PS/2 line.
Edit:

I'm not sure, sorry. However, you can also go the other way round.
There are serial mice emulators. You plug a PS/2 or USB mouse in and connect the emulator to the old PC's serial port.

What mouse type did windows 95 indicate?
There's a glitch in the matrix.

Apparently 32-bit is dead and nobody likes P4s.
Of course, as always, I'm open to correction...😉
Most compatible is Microsoft Mouse driver Version 8.20. Older ones are not compatible with Windows 3.1x and newer. And that 9.01 version does not bring anything new to the table, only more memory hog.
I am aroused about any X86 motherboard that has full functional ISA slot. I think i have problem. Not really into that original (Turbo) XT,286,386 and CGA/EGA stuff. So just a DOS nut.
PS. If I upload RAR, it is a 16-bit DOS RAR Version 2.50.
MS Mouse 9 apparently fixed that slowness issue.
Re: Moving Mouse dramatically slows down CPU
Edit: Small edit.
