I'm testing several early audio streaming formats, and one of them were Internet Wave from VocalTec.

I've searched all around the internet. I found the encoder and server setup info, but not the player. Anyone who can help?

http://web.archive.org/web/19961225003614/htt … c.com/iwave.htm

Filename: iwave10.exe or iwave10.zip - 1.27mb

There were also a 0.9 beta version with filename iwave.zip

EDIT: Encoder available here https://www.uselesssoftware.com/download/iwserv02-zip

Thanks for giving it a try.

I believe the only way to find version 1.0 of this program/file at the moment is if anyone have it in their personal backups or it is found on a magazine cover disk from 1996/1997.

I did find beta 0.8 http://ftp.sunet.se/mirror/archive/ftp.sunet. … ers/iwave02.exe
That means .vmf files can be played, but as the readme.txt file states, it does not yet support .vmd files, making it very clunky to use as websites used the .vmd file as a stub file.

2. File/Open can open .WAV files and .VMF files. It cannot open .VMD
(media description) files.

3. The positioning knob is not fully functional yet.

4. When setting the position to the end of the file, the Internet Wave
goes into an infinite loop of "Connecting...", "Waiting for answer..."

5. If the cache directory is invalid or does not exist, the Internet Wave
will remain in "Buffering..." mode with no network activity.
Choose View/Option - "Network Cache" to check the cache directory.

Search for iwave

There is also mention of it here in CD-061
http://www.hassoft.freeservers.com/proglist/liste.htm

Nice one cyclone, version 0.9 have alot of the bugs fixed, better than 0.8.

I did see those scene releases, but I could not find the files anywhere, even checked on the BBS.

How did you find that site on the Way Back Machine?

I saw a post on some old site asking about a player for vmf files and they referenced that site.

I did just locate a book that included a CD that has it:

Oh, nice.

I sent a seller on eBay a question about the same book I linked to on Amazon to see if it includes the CD.
