Jill of the jungle trilogy is free on gog.

Thanks, list updated. The game was already added to the uploaded file, but I forgot to add it to the list

Even with all those games, there is still half a CD of available space, so I'm also adding shareware titles to this collection when possible.

It occurs to me I could link to https://www.goodolddays.net/hotud/index.php?s … eyword=Freeware . There are no downloads there, you can't filter by system requirements, and it surely has some inaccuracies. But maybe it might provoke some memories?

Wikipedia confirms that the original B-17 Flying Fortress (not to be confused with The Mighty 8th) is freeware, but I don't know where you would find a DOS verison.

There's definitely at least one free version of Battlecruiser 3000AD for DOS.

I'm quite sure Nyet III became officially freeware a while ago. It's been experiencing a revival of sorts lately.

Now I’m confused about Inner Worlds... the developer website says the game is free but it’s on sale on Steam... maybe they’re charging for the “tech support” for having the game running on steam?

Inner Worlds was originally released as Shareware. But was subsequently made available for FREE as the game was really written for DOS, and very few machines still run DOS. The game does run under Windows (usually) in DOS mode on most computers.

Unfortunately, after we decided to make the game available for free, we found that the number of people downloading the game resulting in a tremendous amount of extra load on our website. This extra load resulted in our website hosting service charging us extra money each month because we went beyond our limit.

Now, we don't mind giving the game away to anyone who wants it as long as it doesn't cost us anything (that's just how gosh awful generous we are), but we are not quite willing to "PAY" so that others can have it for free.

As such ... please understand that because of all this, we have been forced to discontinue the free downloading of Inner Worlds from this website.

However .... if you can find the game for download from some other site (and there may be a few out there ... search for files called "iw13-reg.exe"), then "lucky you"! Grab it and enjoy!

If you can't find it, but REALLY REALLY REALLY want to play the game (and who can blame you), then you still have one option. You can go to Kagi (our online order processing partner) and order it from them for a minimal handling cost. You can then download the game from there.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND HOWEVER .....

PURCHASING THIS PRODUCT ONLINE DOES NOT ENTITLE THE PURCHASER TO ANY CUSTOMER SUPPORT NOR IS THE GAME WARRANTED OR GUARANTEED IN ANY MANNER. IT IS NOT GUARANTEED TO WORK ON ANY COMPUTER OR OPERATING SYSTEM! INNER WORLDS HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AND IS ONLY BEING PROVIDED VIA KAGI, SO THAT PEOPLE WHO ARE STILL INTERESTED IN PLAYING IT CAN GET IT, AS WE ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO SUPPORT DISTRIBUTION OF THE GAME FROM OUR WEBSITE FOR FREE.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

Having said that ... if you want to pay a few bucks to get the game and give it a shot, just click on the following button:

TLDR if you pay for the game than you are essentially paying the hosting fee and bandwidth to download it.

This is very old news from way way before it was released on Steam... ?

Maybe, but this is the developer’s site. I mean, this is the first place they would want to update unless they are OK with hurting their own sales...
Anyway, I’ll consider this game as not freeware for now.

HACKX : Twitch'n'Kill is a full freeware game, compatible with GZDoom.
I did not find any FLOSS DOS Doom port that was 100% compatible. At best, the music is missing. Lack of DEH support it seems.
If it'd be added in FastDoom for example, that would make a new freeware to add to the list.

I guess the original DOOM 2 executable could be used (I've never tried), but it's not FLOSS nor freeware.

I think Pyro 2 is freeware? I suddenly recall that was a popular one too.

It seems to be shareware as well, anyway, keep em' coming as they will be useful for the shareware project 😀

As for the freeware ones, it seems the CD is finally full, thanks to Battlecruiser 3000 AD being around 150mb, I also added Daggerfall as its around the same size compressed and there is no need to have the CD.

The FPS named H. U. R. L. (also known as slob zone 3D) might be freeware according to a thread on mobygames, but I doubt it.

Going back to final list above there is also :
- cyberdogs
- bipbop trilogy (see the Ross Game Dungeon vidéo about this one on YouTube. Search for bipbop 2)
- Igor : objective Uikokahonia

Sorry I didn't remember those sooner.

This sounds awesome and having all 3 Chex quests on it is just awesome. I was a kid when check quest came out in the cereal box. Lots of memories with that game good times.

Hmmm, those look like good games, guess I can squeeze them with the other games.
Thanks once again

You are very welcome to download the image, but I suggest waiting a bit more so I can add the games mentioned above.
