Dear All,
I recently acquired a DELL 7000 laptop (PII 300Mhz, 128MB RAM) but it seems its floppy drive is defective. I was planning to install Win98SE to play some DOS and light Win98 games on it, but obviously with the floppy drive not functional, I can't do anything.

Is there an method to convert the boot disk to bootable ISO?

I have consulted and tried the following suggestion, with no luck so far:

https://techenclave.com/threads/how-to-make-b … -win98se.16830/
https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/265606-ho … -file-onto-disk

I have tried PowerISO, IMGBurn, and WinImage with no luch: The .IMA image simply does not convert to a bootable ISO image.

Any help in order to get the CD drive as the source of installing OS' older than Win2K would be really appreciated.

Thanks!

I believe winworldpc has an OEM disc for Win98SE that is bootable.

Alternately, I've used InfraRecorder to take a floppy disc image, and make a bootable CD out of it. Goto File->Project Properties. Under the Boot tab, add your image file. Select Floppy Emulation.

Some cursory googling though indicates the problem may be the IMA image format? It may be outdated? Can you find a bootdisc in the IMG format? I remember I found several once upon a time. I believe windworldpc also has these boot disc.

I'd link you directly, but I'm unsure if it crosses over into piracy and is against the rules here.
