Nah, a number of people looked into it, it's not gonna really going to be possible to run those roland and yamaha VSTi on embedded Linux without HUGE engineering effort. There are emulators for the MU100 and SC-55 in progress, though, but they're still probably a ways offf.

I am not thinking about the VSTi synths. In this post there are mentions of similar straightforward synth implementations for Windows: Re: Is anyone aware of the Casio SW-10 Softsynth for Win9x?, and I was wondering if they would be a possible starting point for the disassembly approach.
