Hi,

I am curious to see your idea.

Regards,
Freddy.

Well, give me some time. I've just returned from my holiday and my youtube channel has gotten dis-active because of it,
so I need to make some more videos asap to keep the ball rolling again...
I'll get back with some photoshopped mockups of my ideas in a few weeks, it's a hobby project after all and it's not like
you have a sales deadline or something next week 😀
Good things take time to make...

I'm pretty sure you'll like it though, although I am a bit scared about the amount of pascal development required to implement it,
so I will try to keep everything as simple as possible from that point of view...

I'll post some preliminary images in a few weeks here 😀
If you have any ideas that you think could make a difference that you'd like to see in it,
please post them here and i'll try to integrate them into the mockups 😀

Cheers,
Radiance

This player is the best one for my 286: HP Vectra ES/12 (286 12Mhz) issues, fixes, notes and benchmarks!

Absolutely awesome audio quality - unmatched. Thank you so much for this! Can't wait for 1.0 release.

Thanks,

I focus the effort on the XT (8088)
But of course, this is a good improvement for the 286. 8 channels andmore with no problem 😀

Any chance of another beta drop (with the detection fix/workaround you did for my rusty 286, and remove the GUS debug messages) while we wait for 1.0? :)

I can also report that it works surprisingly well in a DOS session in OS/2 on my old 386; very few module players do, especially without significant slowdowns.

Working on the Documentation, I added the main improvement Versus the Mod Master from 1996:

Major optimisation added in Mod Master XT:

- Improved Mixing Code (Read/Write 2 Bytes per loop, Don't clean the Buffer at the begining...)
- Use more than 2 Mixing Buffers.
- Skip part of the mixing when too Slow.
- SB16 Signed buffer replay added. (No more Signed/Unsigned convertion)
- Partition compressed to be able to load bigger files.
- Scan the partition and load only the used samples. (Seen in red in the samples view)
- Can limit the maximum number of channels to mix.
- Highly optimized Covox/DAC/PC Speaker replay.
- Support for the Fast Tracker 2 Format.
- Gravis UltraSound even on PC XT.
- Developped an Internal file format (.MMM) for Fast Loading.
- Support for multiple 80's sound devices. (Tandy, CMS...)

Sorry if this has been asked before, but do you downsample samples in order to reduce processing cost and/or reduce sample size for large files (i.e. to make large sample sets fit in GUS RAM)?

Also .. *drool* :)

Hi,

No, I don't do that as I want to keep the maximum sound quality.

Hi,

No, I don't do that as I want to keep the maximum sound quality.

In this case it's more about having sound at all - any module with more than 1MB (used) samples will have silent instruments on GUS.

There's some problem with command line parameters parsing.
I run it with the following:

/D:229

...and press 'T', it shows "Custom DAC (229h)", OK
But any of these:

/D:22A
/D:22a

...is interpreted as 216h

I corrected the problem,.

I also found a bug in the Tandy DAC and Tandy VGM Audio. Crash when we stop the music.
It does not crash under DOSBOX... And no crash in b27.
