I'm also interested in an assembled unit, when these will be available.

Stay tuned!

Also, from your pics I noticed an array of holes (maybe for pins?) mentioned as DBG
Just out of curiosity what are these for?

Those are used for the in-circuit firmware uploading for the ATMega MCU used for the HardMPU.

Also, is it possible to send us the manual to understand more about the card?
cheers!

It's currently in the works.

So, if I bought bare PCB with bracket, to get all functions of the PCB I would need :
1) Creative CT4520 donor board
2) 32MB SIMM module
3) Soldering equipment/skills
Did I missed something (like caps/ICs/transistors/diodes [elements not present on either AWE donor board or SIMM module]) ?
If so, are there are other pieces that require other donor board(s) ?

Dude. What part of "Estimated start of sales - April-May 2021. No pre-orders" don't you understand?

I ordered a replacement Tomato 4DPS to rebuild my 486. I also ordered a Pentium 60 PC, and I am finalizing drives on my Pentium III 550. I am looking forward to testing the AWE64 Legacy on all three, though I think that ultimately, a SB16 will end up in the 486, my AWE32 in the Pentium 90, and the AWE64 Legacy w/ wavetable board in the P3 alongside an SCC-1 and a SB Live! (for Windows.) I'm still hunting down a Voodoo 1, a 2nd Voodoo 2 for SLI, and a Voodoo 5 to replace the Voodoo 3 - all in the same box, for the ULTIMATE MS-DOS/Win 3.x/Windows 9x machine. I may even put a faster Pentium 3 in there. Aside from waiting to order an AWE64 Legacy, I am struggling with a 4:3 display solution. This sound card project got me excited about retro computing again!

@Scythifuge: Voodoo 1, Voodoo 2 and a Voodoo 5 in one system is a recipe for trouble. It already starts with the V1's PCI incompatibilities with many chipsets especially when it's PCI 2.2 and newer. So be mentally prepared 😀

Thank you for the heads up. I think I read somewhere on Vogons about someone running a V1,2, and 3 in tandem. Right now my P3 has a single V2 and a V3 (and the AWE32 until I can get an AWE64 Legacy.) If it turns out that the V1, V2, and V5 doesn't work with my Asus P2B, I'll put the V1 in my Pentium 60 box. Back in the day, I played Dark Forces II and Myth - The Fallen Lords on my P 90 with a V1 (oh how I regret throwing that system out - to be young and ignorant!)

The idea is tp have the perfect 1980-1999 box (though if I do get a V5 and can get a Tualatin with the P2B, maybe 1980 - 2001, hehehe.) Being able to cover all sound and music options with the AWE64 Legacy, and all glide options would be amazing. I bought the commercial edition of moslo as well. If I can't put a V1, V2, and V5 together, it would free up a slot for a sata card and I would use rloew's TBPlus package to add a couple of massive hard drives for all of my games and iso's.

It's possible. I know because I have done it many times. I used my own scripts and put together a customised Glide Switcher for each of the chipsets.
Voodoo1 / Voodoo2 SLI / Voodoo5 5500 AGP and a VoodooTV FM card all in one system.

As far as YMF71x goes, only the typical Labway made card has the L and R swapped on the WB connector, it is a board not chip error (though it could be due to first revision of Roland SCB55 having its channels swapped, which later version corrected and some first version cards had factory patch wires).

Ah that's good to know. I've noticed that the DB50XG and the Yucatan FX/Cancun FX often sound reversed in comparison to the Dream Blasters when used on the same hardware. They do sound correct when used on Sound Blaster 16 models en Turtle Beach cards. I will dig up my ExpertColor MED3700 YMF719 and see how it does.

Edit: correction, seems like the Yucatan FX is reversed.

Hey guys,

Good news - the boards have arrived, we'll start assembling them soon, so we're on schedule to start orders soon.

Regarding your questions:

Are these available from a 3rd party in Europe? Thanks!

We don't consider any such options at the moment. We'll be shipping worldwide from Moscow, Russia.

vutt wrote on 2021-03-06, 21:31:

2 questions:
1) Will CT4500 work as donor?
2) Are you planning to provide SMD stencil blueprint for cleaner soldering workflow?

1) No, only CT4520.
2) No, but we can provide a file for you to make one if you wish.

I'm thinking of buying the bare pcb since i have an awe64 value already, what other components will i need? i couldnt see any info on what is required for that version.

Please see the BOM attached.

Hi, I just discovered this awesome project and was interested in the bare pcb to try and put it together myself. How difficult would you say this would be?

Well, to be honest, that's not a task I would recommend for a beginner. If you're experienced in soldering small SMD components and/or have the necessary equipment, it shouldn't be VERY difficult either.
