From here, which driver is for ms-dos ?
http://vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=1019
In the archive, in this order :

4056.zip
40282.zip
M2E_Me2062_sign_37574.zip
M2E_SE2046_sign_31156.ZIP
M2E_XP2K2077_sign_571007.zip
M2E_XP2080_sign584363.zip

I have a Dell Latitude CPx H. I remember playing JetPack trough PC Speaker in ms-dos 6.22, without Windos 3.1 or Windows 3.11
Below for Windows 3.x or ms-dos, doesen't have any sound drivers (Sound Blaster etc.)

Different sound cards have CRL Positional 3D.
Inside 4056.zip, CRLP3D.TXT say that we can turn off or on CRL Positional 3D.
Inside the archive, ESSETUP.EXE file and SETUP.exe i will use in ms-dos 6.22 to see if it is for ms-dos 6.22.
Inside the archive, a Signature=$Windows 95$ sentence is in MAESTRO.INF and MSTROWT.INF file.
PLAT2MEG.IMG and PLAT4MEG.IMG are empty when opened with WinImage version 9.00 evaluation.
40282.zip has a SETUP.EXE i will try with ms-dos 6.22.
In the archive, a ESS AudioDrive M2/M2E 4.02.82 sentence can be found in OEMSETUP.INF file.
M2E_Me2062_sign_37574.zip has a WDMA_ES2.INF with sentences about windows, but no windows version. I will use Setup.exe. I don't know what DLNCH.EXE and ESSD.EXE represent.
M2E_SE2046_sign_31156.ZIP has a ESSetup.exe. WDMA_ES2.INF has a sentence about windows, but i don't know the windows version.
M2E_XP2K2077_sign_571007.zip has a Setup.exe. M2E2077 driver folder is empty.
M2E_XP2080_sign584363.zip has a Setup.exe.
The Windows version cannot be found in wdma_es2.inf.

.cab files cannot be opened with winrar. In .inf files, no dos reference can be found.

The archive are too big to be put in a floppy disk. Either first archive, second etc.
So, i tried dosbox.
This program cannot be run in DOS mode when i acces CRLP3D.exe rom 4056.zip
Invalid DMA type assigned when i acces MAESTRO.exe rom 4056.zip
win ESSETUP.exe when i acces ESSETUP.exe rom 4056.zip
Illegal command: win when i acces SETUP.exe from 4056.zip and 40282.zip
This program cannot be run in DOS mode when i acces SETUP.exe, DLNCH.exe and ESSD.exe from M2E_Me2062_sign_37574.zip
This program cannot be run in DOS mode , when i acces ESSetup from M2E_SE2046_sign_31156.ZIP
This program cannot be run in DOS mode when i acces SETUP.exe from M2E_XP2K2077_sign_571007.zip
This program cannot be run in DOS mode when i acces SETUP.exe from M2E_XP2080_sign584363.zip

Try 4056.zip It is 95 vxd drivers. There also a file in the zip that say Maestro.com (I think thats the msdos driver)
the other file aecu.sys might have to be loaded in the config.sys
40282 seems to be a seperate windows mixer driver to be used with 5056 in windows.

You will need to disable the serial and parallel ports to free up the IRQs and DMA
That being said its a PCI card, you might be able to use Set blaster environmental settings in your config sys.

SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 T3 Try that in Autoexec.bat , and load aecu.sys in config sys and maestro.com in autoexec.bat after the set blaster.
If that don't work try SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T3
I really don't have any experience with trying to get that to work or know anything about it.

There is no win 3.11 driver, and there is only the 95vxds and looks like maybe there is 2 files that pertain to DOS in the 95 vxd drivers

Mostly what I read is the thing can only be configured in windows 95/8, and then it works fine in dos.

You are aware that "This program cannot be run in DOS mode" is the standard message when you try to run a Win9x program in DOS, right?

As Mr. Warlord says, there is probably a configuration program that you have to run in Win9x before there is any chance you can get this driver running in DOS. This has nothing to do with serial ports.

It might be possible to download a configuration file from somewhere and modify it for your needs, but a little Googling does not suggest what it might be called. (maestro.cfg or maestro.ini don't seem to fit.)

ETA: As noted in your other thread, the file is named mstrinf.ini . Unfortunately there does not seem to be any copy of this available for download.

There is an essdos.zip available on Vogonsdrivers: http://www.vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?file … menustate=46,36
In it, there's an es1968.zip for the Maestro-2 which has a maestro.com version 2.31G and a copy of mstrinf.ini, which causes the "Please use Windows Sofware Applet to enable" if it's missing. I've not tried this file but I've used the es1938.zip in it for my Solo-1 and it works (it has the essolo.ini missing from other archives I've tried).

Good call!

Unfortunately it appears the file is binary and not human-readable, meaning there's no easy way to change it without reverse-engineering it.

In ES1938.TXT there is some sample output from the driver (which matches what I see when I run it with my Solo-1):

SBPro Game Settings:
SB IO=220h IRQ=5 DMA=1
MPU401 IO=330h
Game Port IO=201h

ESSOLO.INI is only 16B so looking at a hexdump:

0000000: 2002 0100 8803 0500 0102 3003 0000 0000 .........0.....

it appears to be 16b words stored as little-endian and in the order SB IO, SB DMA, Adlib IO, SB IRQ, game port IO, MPU401 IO, and 2 null words.

MSTRINF.INI is 8B longer and appears to have 4B of nulls before and after the equivalent data in ESSOLO.INI:

0000000: 0000 0000 2002 0100 8803 0000 0002 4003 .... .........@.
0000010: 0000 0000 0000 0000 ........

though in this case the SB IRQ is 0 (auto or default, maybe) and the MPU401 IO is 340h.

I saw a post on some Linux forum about modifying the mstrinf.ini file.

It actually should be pretty easy to figure out what settings do what as the windows install creates / edits it according to the resource settings in Windows.

Edit: autocorrect on a phone is trash...
