I'm trying to make my OPL3-SAX work in DOS.
Do I need some drivers? What should I add in config.sys?

The driver is called SETUPSA and goes in autoexec.bat. If you install the Windows 3.x drivers, it also gets installed.
However, there is much posted about UNISOUND. I'm not familiar with it.

Here archive with autoexec.bat and latest setupsa.exe
OPL3-SAx_DOS.zip

I hate SETUPSA , but great if it works well for you . I am a fan of Tiido's SETYMF utility . See http://www.tmeeco.eu/TKAYBSC/

Because you used OLD version (I hate it too), that not works how it should be. New version setupsa works great.

Cool, thanks.
So I should simply throw those files on my drive and add those two lines to autoexec?

I recall one major pain I had with SETUPSA is that it insists of altering your AUTOEXEC.BAT every time it runs. I had to hex-edit it and point it at the wrong filename, so that it leaves mine alone. Is that something that has been changed in new versions? Maybe there is a switch to control it?

The OPL3-SAx cards can be initialized by UNISOUND: UNISOUND - Universal ISA PnP Sound Card Driver for DOS v0.81b

That's much easier to get working than the official drivers! It will initialize the card in SB Pro compatibility mode by default, and will automatically set up the mixer up with reasonable values that should get sound and FM (OPL3) music working.
