Hi, I have chance to get this card
https://www.recycledgoods.com/audio-excel-dre … isa-sound-card/
but I cannot find any details. Is it any good? It looks great on paper but I'd like to hear some opinions based on personal experience 😀
Thanks!

That's a nice price for a NOS card with wavetable regardless.

Can't comment on the exact card, but I have two later AudioExcel cards with CMI-8330 chip (and no onboard wavetable). Bad news: cheap crap build quality. Good news: still not as noisy as many SB16 cards...

The CMI-8328 is a completely different beast to the 8329/30, pretty primitive from what I heard. Dream SAM9233 is legendary of course, but how clean it sounds depends on the card and how the instruments sound depends on the sample ROM, which looks quite old/small here, although withoug visible specs it's difficult to tell.

This could be anywhere between pretty awful and pretty good - although you can be sure the synth itself is good. For this price I'd take the risk, but if you want a guaranteed-good wavetable card, I'd look elsewhere for now (unless someone does actually have this and can confirm how it sounds).

I actually have that exact card, except a slightly different revision. Instead of the large socketed chip (EEPROM?), it has the smaller one soldered to the board just to the left.

It is a Zoltrix card.
You can download the archived manual and drivers from here:

I haven't actually used this card yet. It is on my long to-do list.
