Greetings.
Long time ago someone donated me an AWE32 CT3990, probably already with problems. By the time I was able to test it only SB16 part of it worked, EMU8000 test ending in total system hang-up. Since EMU8000 chip was heating up I assumed that it was faulty, and bought a scrapped CT3910 - also didn't worked, but at least EMU8000 wasn't heating up.
I've tested everything again before soldering - this time CT3990 was completely non-functional, non-detectable by unisound or PnP manager, sometimes even preventing PC from booting. Same without EMU8000 chip, and after soldering "new" one it also started to heat up.
What else I can try? EEPROM is 100% good, there is no visible damage, and since faulty IC also affects ISA bus maybe CT1749 is bad?

I've had an AWE32 with shorted capacitor legs on the back.
Even if there's no visible damage I'd start by checking the ISA connector with a multimeter for shorts or low resistance between power lines and ground.
