Just checked this thread for updates and I have to say I'm very excited to see the progress. Please book me in for two McCake modules on your waiting list. Will be sending it through your contact from as well.

Do you have any plans for the front bay plastic part production? i.e. 3D printed part or some other process like an injection mould?

Definitely interested in the carrier board - I have a small form factor, 1x ISA slot system with only a floppy bay... So options for buttons, screen etc are limited. In my case I would probably just use the DOS command line tool to change synth and soundfont.

Will the buttons, oled screen etc all come unpopulated or as as-cost options so that we can leave them off so we can implement our own solution?

Mine arrived today, and (as expected with everything from Serdaco) it works perfectly.
Installed it on my Sound Blaster AWE32 and it's really great to have an internal solution for both GM/GS wavetable and MT-32/CM-32L!

I'm going to put the display and the buttons on an empty drive bay faceplate for control and the very important "insert buckazoid" messages and alike. 😀

Haha. Yeah, I have the special rainbow-version of the McCake it seems. 😀 I kind of like it this way actually.

Oooh! I just found this thread after browsing Serdashop and thinking: "all these GM daughterboards seem nice, but MT-32 they are not." Time to burn some money soon, I guess. My SB16 and Yamaha Audician 32 kind of need this.

The beige case (my 386DX/486DLC) was the first one I did, the blue one (my 286) is a slightly refined version that was a bit neater and has better button sizes, IMO.

What would be the recommended sf2 for use with FluidSynth that best mimick a SC55? I have found https://github.com/trevor0402/SC55Soundfont but according to https://github.com/trevor0402/SC55Soundfont/issues/2 and https://github.com/FluidSynth/fluidsynth/issues/171 Roland's Sysex isn't implemented. Or can FluidSynth be replaced with Timidity++ (or VirtualMIDISynth) on the MT32-Pi?

Unfortunately, I was too slow for the first batch 🙁 I have made a case anyway, I'm still iterating on it though...

Edit: updated picture...I'm not to keen on the red though and probably print it again with a different color 😉

Have you tried disabling CPU caches?

You could also try the updated SB driver for a faster machines: http://www.sierrahelp.com/Patches-Updates/Pat … ardDrivers.html

You can use ferrite toroids in case you encounter noise issues. They often occur if cables get too long.
Winding a noise cable around a toroid can greatly reduce coat waves, for example. 😀

Good luck! 😀
