Hello Everyone,
I am looking to get some guidance on how to work out this issue I am currently having with my retro build. Please forgive my ignorance but sound cards have always seemed to be a difficult topic for me.
You can see the computer has the following:

SPECS:
Pentium MMX 233 processor
Tyan S1590S-100 Super Socket 7 AT Motherboard
48mb PC100 Memory (for now)
Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 Pro 4mb (2D Card)
Diamond Monster 3D 4mb (Voodoo 1)(3D Card)
Aztech Sound Galaxy Pro 16 II - OPL3 Card (FCC ID# I38-MMSN824)
32GB Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 8 HDD
Windows 95 - OSR2

I installed the drivers on windows found here on Vogons for the Sound Galaxy Pro 16 II. Using files "P16IIB-1","P16IIB-2", and "2316FD95".
I believe these are the proper drivers although the text document in the folder states the FCC ID is I38-MMSN845 BUT the card does have the AZT-2316 chipset.

Here is what it is and is not doing:
Windows startup and sound effects work fine
CD audio works fine,
MIDI files play fine
Windows based PC games audio appear to work fine

Any MS-DOS game that I launch from windows 95 does not detect my sound card in the sound setups for games BUT will play ADLIB from them just fine. I did notice during my boot sequence, that the IRQ for my multimedia device shows as "NA". Is there some sort of DOS driver i have to install when not in windows and in command prompt?

Please see photos below, The first photo is my current sound card configuration when it was installed..

Just to be clear, those drivers are for pure DOS, not the Windows command prompt.

Well, via Aztech's FTP site of all their old drivers, the windows drivers I installed were meant for my card i guess, But i guess it comes down to needing DOS drivers? So would my current drivers be fine for windows based stuff, just install the above DOS based drivers for DOS based stuff? I ran across that website today you posted above, and was going to read into it further tonight when i got home from work.

That first screenshot does not show a high DMA, but the game screenshot has HDMA set to 5. I think your card's Sound Blaster compatibility in Windows DOS VM may be limited to 8-bit PCM. Does the game sound work if you set the game to a plain Sound Blaster, A220 I7 D1 without High DMA?

I got it working with the VY212 drivers above, Both in windows ms-dos and regular outside windows ms-dos! I guess it was just a missing or incorrect driver. All of the audio works perfect now! Thanks yall!

This MMSN824 card has an AZT2316A chip, which is 3rd gen Aztech (IMHO best chips/cards they made).

The Aztech gen 3 and 4 cards (and some gen 1 too) do support 16b 44kHz/48kHz stereo audio, but only via WMM. As with most other SB clones, in Creative terms they support max SBPro 2.0, so 8b 22kHz stereo or 44kHz mono. So if a game supports it, WMM will give you the best PCM quality, otherwise choose SBPro 2.0.

I have a 2320 HP wedge that I like very much, but it's missing PCM fitering. Otherwise, it's the perfect card for me. Some research revealed that the 2320 was developed in conjunction with Yamaha and may be very similar to the YMF 719? (writing this from memory away from my notes). A yet-to-be-realized project of mine is to reverse engineer the Aztech card and determine if it's possible to add PCM filtering caps as has been done for the 719. I don't have a link to that post handy at the moment. I should talk about this on a new thread anyway. I'll gather my notes and start one soon.
