Hello.

I am new to the forums and I could not find a similar post.

I have a Roland MIF-IPC card that started acting weird. When I kick off Monkey Island the sound is very distorted and the music seems to be playing very slowly. The green light on the MT32 is on obviously.
I already verified everything else works fine by changing the card with the LoTech one that I have on another box.

The card looks rather simple, has 4 disk capacitors: "104 25V KCK", 2 1K resistors and 5 ICs and another component which I believe is a tantalum capacitor (??) - I ve attached an image.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and can point to common failures maybe ?

I was thinking desoldering the caps and measuring them to start with.

Thanks a lot

After a lot of fiddling around I found that a setting in BIOS was the culprit. I had to set the PNP/PCI resource control from Auto to Manual and set the option to Legacy ISA for IRQ-9.
I hope this helps someone down the line should they ever experience the same issue.
