So I have a nice little collection of "retro" PCs to cover Win 95/DOS era all the way through Windows 7. As such I have components which are period correct all throughout, and I like to build PCs which represent the upper end of the performance spectrum of a specific era. The cost of acquiring some components makes it difficult, however. I noticed the asking price of Audigy 4 (gold connector) cards on ebay is asinine, to put it nicely. Maybe some people are actually paying those prices but not me. So I have Audigy ZS, Audigy 2 ZS, Live! and older cards, and it looks like I may as well step up to X-fi cards for my XP and possibly Win 7 systems. Wondering if I'm missing anything by not having an Audigy 4 in any of my systems, if it fills a gap between the Audigy 2 ZS and X-fi which can't otherwise be compensated for.

The Audigy 4 Pro just has better DACs so you will have cleaner output. Other than that, you will not see any difference over the Audigy 2 ZS.

It's worth noting that Audigy 2 ZS external IO also has CS4398.
