Sweet! Pre-order submitted! 😁

This should come in really handy with systems that don't have LED HDD indicators.

5 mins after I install one, I'm gonna want an analog meter on the front panel as a rate counter/percent disk activity, though of course it's gotta look like it's counting Roentgens...

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Yeah probably, the big old bakelite gauges that look practically steampunk have passed from obsolete crap pricing to high value collectable these days so stereo level meter type doohickey it will probably be.

Though I've got a bunch of LED bar displays... should brain around how to use those, discharge of a cap, time constants, something like that.

I used NOS tuning dials for this one, with a big electrolytic across the meter and a variable resistor plus a diode in between the meter and the HDD LED output. The LED can remain parallel to it because these meters use very little current. It would be cool to find proper old microamp meters but they are hard to find nowadays. I bought these 80’s meters already 20 years ago in an old school electronics shop.

That's cool, glad you saved them!
My father still has a few of them, too, I think.
He feels the same about "Schauzeichen", which drew very little power..

Edit: Picture added. They also made a soft "click" sound, btw.
