Just put a new card on my 5x86 rig: Hercules Dynamite VLB 2MB, which uses a TSENG ET4000 chip.
I was wondering if there is a way to increase the monitor refresh rate on Win3.x, since I can't find the option.

Now is set at 800x600 @60Hz which is a bit annoying (my monitor supports up to 150Hz on this mode).

Thanks!

I think you have to use a DOS utility to do it. It might be called something like setres, and it's not very user friendly.

At least with my dynamite power, I had to use a DOS utility to set the windows refresh rate.

I couldn't find any Windows or DOS utility to set this, but finally I was able to increase the refresh rate up to 100Hz, and now I'm using VESA 72Hz.

Just add this to system.ini file (800x600@72Hz):

[Hercules]
fsResource=off
fsResolution=off
DISPMODE=800,600,8,800,600
BigMap=0
pd_runm=0
DM1=800,600,8,800,600,0
DM0=800,600,8,800,600,0

[Tseng]
DisplayInf=OEM0.INF
DisplayIndex=3
refresh800=72
;refresh800=100
frequency=2
resolution=800x600
colordepth=8
fontsize=small
