Let's assume, we have v1 or v2 with 3 tmus attached. will it affect perfomance of any games or applications?

what in theory: it will make Trilinear filtering with mipmapping and detail textures in one pass. But what will be in practice?

No, most games of that era can't use more than 2 TMUs per pixel conveyor. Not sure if Voodoo TMU even capable to do true trilinear filtering at all.

Yes, and performance boost can be very modest and/or limited to certain scenes. Here's an example from Serious Sam:

The original Radeon is 2 pipelines with 3 TMUs each. It was competitive with GeForce 2 GTS sometimes, but it's more in the class of GeForce2 MX. And it also had bandwidth/fillrate saving mechanisms that NV didn't have yet. Really it used a lot of transistors to be fairly mediocre.

Not many titles used all three TMUs, generally being more aligned with the GF/GF2 platforms.

Most likely not. Glide never took off after Voodoo 2 and I can't remember any hardware prototypes with 3-4 TMU.

3-TMU Voodoo 1 and 2 do exist, in real hardware. http://www.thedodgegarage.com/3dfx/primary_image.htm

i don't know, if these piranha and barracuda are using glide for their special simulation software. afaik they support 2 apis along with glide. may be someone could take a look at the sources, and notice something about third tmu? https://sourcecodebrowser.com/glide/2002.04.1 … 49eb1d5203.html

diagnostic utils will detect 3 tmus for sure
