How would 1280x1024 75Hz lcd monitor work in dos gaming? I know it isn't exactly 4:3 aspect ratio, but I don't know how those panels handle 4:3 vga resolutions in general.
I saw one such lcd at local flea market for 10 euros yesterday but I didn't get it. It was LG Flatron L1915S. Now I am wondering if I should still go back and get it after all. Also other 1280x1024 lcd monitors seem to be common in such places around here, so I thought it might be a good idea to ask. I only have one working crt, so I am looking for something that could replace it for dos gaming when it stops working.

Depending on a specific model my opinion is they can be great. Here is me experimenting with my monitor (left-most on all photos) in comparison to other screens I have: https://imgur.com/a/rXIHF

Other screens: MacBook with retina 2014, 2016 generic IPS 1080p LG and a 2006 HP laptop.

This is Sony SDM-HX75 (Early 2015, TN panel, 17", 1280x1024) and I love it, it gives me a really good picture. I used it for everything retro for about a year, then switched to a CRT.

Unfortunately paired with old ISA cards it gives artefacts as all LCDs paired with ISA and early PCI do, but paired with dos box and scummvm it works beautifully for me.

Comparison to a high-end CRT:
