I'm looking for a proper functioning WinXP driver (if there are any) for this Savage4 I have. With the drivers I've tried, DX6 and DX7 programs work perfectly but it has some serious problems with DX8 causing texture corruption, freezing and the like.

The specific card is the NumberNine SR9 Savage4 Xtreme 166/166MHz AGP 4X w/ 16MB SGRAM.

Just curious, but what is your intended purpose for this system? A Savage4 is a bit of an oddball card and will likely have a lot of issues with later games. S3 cards are known for great DOS and non-accelerated Windows game compatibility, but their driver support for hardware accelerated games left a lot to be desired in Windows 98SE and pre-2000 games... I imagine it just gets worse with later operating systems and games.

Also, you could simply be running out of video memory. Any 16MB card would have had trouble playing most D3D8 era games. Morrowind for example "required" only a 500Mhz CPU and Windows 98 but also required a 32MB DX 8.1 compatible card.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

You have to take in account that most Savage4 don't deal well with newer or overclocked AGP. Also, drivers were always lackluster.
I have a Savage4 32MB that, in UT 2004 runs really bad and crashes a few minutes after started the game. These cards are very fiddly with the drivers.
