Here is a 1MB STB Sprint/32 VL card, using the Trident chipset. I wonder what chipset it has? Is it the -

9400CXi (slow)
9440AGi (faster)
9440 (without a suffix) - fastest!

I'm also not sure if software is able to differentiate between the chip variations.

PCB layout and printed number can be misleading. These chips were pin compatible and manufacturers quite often didn't bothered to change anything on PCB.

I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.

I wonder what chipset it has?

It's 9440AGi or 9440. Only two options.

But FCC ID numbers are misleading too. I found exactly same card with what it looks like 9400CXi marking:
