Hello, right now testing some SiS 6326 cards and have little problem. Last driver for windows 98 version 1.32 does not support OpenGL. So i was thinking thats fine. Not until i read some reviews where guys were able to use OpenGL with High Angle driver. So i googled bit and found one (03/31/1999) its version 1.27. Installed and nothing. GLQuake still in microsoft software renderer and aida detects nothing as well. In drivers is this note.

4. OpenGL supporting
Driver High-Angle supports ICD OpenGL.

Fine i googled again and downloaded version 1.28whql (02/09/2000). In readme again this note

5. OpenGL supporting
Driver 1.28whql supports ICD OpenGL. OpenGL games such as Quake2 can run
with it. Please apply "Default OpenGL" or "Standard OpenGL" if a game
provides options for OpenGL setting.

Again GlQuake nothing as well as aida. So is this support limited only to Quake2? Is there any secret way how to instal OpenGL? Got it someone working in WIn98?

Vintage3D have some dll file for download too, but when i rename it to openg32.dll and copy to glquake directory, game wont run, only will crash with error.

You do know that card is infamous for terrible performance, right?

I would also like to try OpenGL on the 6326! I had this card back in the day thinking it would be a massive improvement over my S3 Trio. It wasn't really! It would be cool to test with.

I know, but you seems to do not know that i like to show people how bad these cards been - soo many weird looking efects in games 🤣

Driver High-Angle supports ICD OpenGL.

This card can support OpenGL after installing these drivers, they are "Installable Client Driver" and they are limited to games like Quake II and GLQuake. Quake III can be run as well but the instability is high and game crashes very often.
It would be better to stick with Riva 128 or ATI Rage. This card offers something like 30-40% performance of Riva and Rage... 😵

PC1: Highscreen => FIC PA-2005, 64 MB EDO RAM, Pentium MMX 200, S3 Virge + Voodoo 2 8 MB
PC2: AOpen => GA-586SG, 512 MB SDRAM, AMD K6-2 400 MHz, Geforce 2 MX 400

Yeah its very fast, you can see the frames "fly"!

A i740 is much better 😉

It looks like nobody answered you. Just copy the file to "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM" (not SYSTEM32) and add this to Windows registry:

HKLM,Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OpenGLdrivers,ogldrv,2,"glsis326.dll"

That's all.

Btw SiS6326 is like Virge in the significant performance difference between different OEM cards. With Virge DX, one could have a 40MHz version, which was unusable for any 3D, and somebody else could have a 75MHz version with EDO RAM, which worked ok in many early 3D games. SiS6326 is the same story. There were many cheap versions with just 32-bit memory bus instead of full 64 bits and their performance was below good Virge cards.

its much better then virge because it has proper rendering.

yeah the later versions are almost useable.
But slow.

Back in the days I had SIS6202 graphics chip and it was terrible for anything higher than 320x240. So don't expect anything nice from SIS.

They had pretty good chipsets though 😜

Thanks to diagon_swarm for pointing me to newer driver with more mature ICD:
https://vintage3d.org/driver/sis/SiS%206326%20228.zip

It is package by AOpen, not the generic SiS driver.

This time you didn't crack me up. Most of the time they are fine.
