I'm back with more updates.

New motherboard arrived and I have installed it.
ASUS CUV4X Socket 370 Motherboard w/ Pentium III 733MHz CPU & 512MB RAM

As far as I can tell, all of my graphical issues have been resolved. I don't believe that it was a settings/driver issue as I used the same hard drives with the same Windows98SE install with the new motherboard.

However, my mouse seems to crash the game.

I've tried:

  • Two different mice (Logitech MX518 and Microsoft Intellimouse)
  • Using PS/2 and USB connections
  • Using multiple mouse drivers (Microsoft Mouse v8.20 [C:\DRIVERS\MOUSE\MOUSE.EXE /R4 /P1], CuteMouse 1.91 [LH C:\DRIVERS\MOUSE\CT191\CTMOUSE.EXE /5, LH C:\DRIVERS\MOUSE\CT191\CTMOUSE.EXE /5 /P /Y], CuteMouse 2.0A4 [LH C:\DRIVERS\MOUSE\CT20A4\CTMOUSE.EXE /5], and CuteMouse 2.1B4 [LH C:\DRIVERS\MOUSE\CT21B4\CTMOUSE.EXE /5]).

If I play the game and don't touch the mouse, everything works fine. But within ~5 minutes (it varies between sessions) of using the mouse, the game will freeze - requiring a CTRL-ALT-DEL and a system restart.

This only happens at 800x600 resolution.

I have not been able to replicate this issue with any other game/application/etc.

Also, I was able to us my Thrustmaster T.16000M with no issue. However, mapping (via joytokey) the Thrustmaster to my mouse causes the same crashing.

I saw someone suggesting that I disable SLI. I saw a list of environmental variables here, but I wasn't sure which ones to use.

I am using sst1init.dll and fxmemmap.vxd suggested by Gamecollector.

I ran these two programs (provided the same output) detect / pcirw

I'm still working on obtaining and installing other Voodoo1 games.

I may be onto something. I installed GLQuake and had some issues. I turned off "Activation follows mouse (X-Mouse) in Tweak UI and it ran great. So, after having it off, I ran MW2 and it ran mostly fine. It's not crashing any more. But, there is some "alt-tabbing" to desktop behavior happening on occasion when I'm moving the mouse and clicking at the same time.

Ehy there, any news here?

I'm having big troubles when try to run this game on my system, a P3-S with 64MB RAM, Winodws98SE, SLI Voodoo2.

I tried the batch files, two files put in the MECH2 main directory, try disabling the SLI, nothing works. When It load the mission system just hang on black screen.

I don't know what to do, I read a lot but no solution for me 🙁

Oh God, I got it!!!

After tries and tries, I apparently solved through a switch that I "unchecked" in the control panel of the FastVoodoo 4.6 drivers. I toggle that every frame is synced with the videocard "vertical sync I think".

In the FastVoodoo 4.6 drivers you have to go on the panel Voodoo2 OC (probably a plug in inside the drivers to overclock the card) and uncheck the "Don't sync buffer swaps to monitor refresh rate for Glide (and Direct3D too).

I click on FACTORY DEFAULT too, just to put the video card to 90mhz (I had before 94mhz I don't know if this can cause that block).

Immediately after this the game runs fine. No colour problems, no other problems. I have to try the 800x600 resolution now. Let's see.

PS: I have enabled the SLI mode without problems, it run.

I keep you informed!

No, this is incredible.

I made it work ONE TIME, but after that, it never worked anymore.

Artifacts, or black screen another time.

I don't know what to say really, I just seen one time working good, stop. Incredibile. I don't know what to do. Any ideas?
