I have finished Unreal which was the only reason for the savage4. Now i want something more powerful for games up to 99 but also excellent DOS support (via c3 system). I have on hand riva 128zx, tnt2s (not ultra), gf2s+quadros, gf3+quadros, gf2mx, gf4mx, some radeons. It will be combined with existing v2sli so image quality important.
I would go with gf4mx 128 bit. It is newest/fastest/coolest DX7 card.
GF3 (DX8) is of course more powerful, but I think C3 is too weak CPU to show its strength.

But don't the newer drivers required by gf4mx limit it's potential on older games? I have a couple of mx460s which are quite fast.in theory.
According to Philscompterlabs Nvidia 9x Graphics Drivers - GF4MX460 is supported since version 28.32 which is dated March 2002.
I've never experienced any problems or glitches on drivers as high as 40.72, 43.45 or 45.23.
Also I'm in doubt that any Riva (128/TNT/TNT2) using very early driver version will be able to achieve GF4MX performance
However it is possible that GF2MX vs GF4MX performance will be comparable with such a weak CPU.
If we consider image quality, rule is: the newer the card - the better quality. (for Nvidia cards).

GF2pro/gts/ultra/whatever you have should be a good combo. how fast is the c3 processor? they're at about 800mhz yea?

This one is 1ghz@100. I think the savage4 was the bottlneck with Unreal though.
