I’m a little confused on how to properly disable D3D vsync with this card. I’ve got a CT6970 GeForce 256 DDR running on 12.41 in Win98SE and 45.67 on Win2K. Neither of the drivers’ control panels allow you to disable D3D vsync, and PowerStrip 3.20 - despite having the option listed, checking it, then applying the option - doesn’t actually work. Is there some means to disabling D3D vsync beyond installing a newer driver set that slows down performance? I know some of the newer drivers have that option and do work, but if I can get away with not going that route, that’d be preferred.

I will soon have a look into it, I grab my old geforce 256 sdr and will try to figure out how it works.
Give me a couple of days.

Builds:

Xp3000+ gf3 ti200 + vd2 SLI 12MB + 768MB + SB live @ WinXP & 98 Dualboot.

P2 350mhz + Diamond Viper V550 + 3Dfx Voodoo 2 12MB + AWE64 + 128MB SDR @ msdos / win98.

I also recommend the coolbits registry tweak (attached).
Just add to registry and then you will find the VSYNC setting in the nVIDIA Control panel -> Direct3D tab -> Advanced settings
I've been using it for 20 years now and it works perfectly (up to driver version 5x.xx).

Furthermore, it also adds a new overclocking tab.

I recommend to use RivaTuner v2.22 for anything Nvidia related starting from Riva TNT.

I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.

Coolbits worked, but for some reason not on any drivers older that 45.23? Don’t know what’s up with that, but I’m running with that now. May try older driver with Rivatuner in the future, or try a different coolbits registry tweak if there’s a separate one for older drivers.

RivaTuner can force Vsync on/off switch for Direct3D/OpeGL on pretty much any driver. Maybe with exception for earliest ones, which were made for TNT.

It definitely works with any drivers prior to 45.23 (except for very old ones like versions 2.xx). I used it successfully MANY TIMES on driver versions 7.76, 8.05, 12.41, 21.83, 28.32, 30.82, 45.23. (I just used it again 15 minutes ago on 7.76).
You don't need another registry tweak, the one I attached in the previous post should work with all.

This is bonkers strange… tried installing 12.41 again (I always do a clean install after using DCPro), then the registry tweak, and it’s still not working. I’m using 12.41 as directly downloaded from Phil’s site too.

Strange, indeed. Can you also try driver version 7.76? It should be faster, anyway.
It's usually my go-to driver for period correct systems running GeForce 256/GeForce 2 cards.

That did the trick, thanks!
