Any input from the matroxperts?

Can you tell which core this one uses? Is it the agp or pcie core? Try those drivers. See if they work?

There is a PLX bridge chip on the back a PCI6154-BB66BC, not sure if its a AGP or PCIe one . .perhaps there is someone here more knowledgeable than me on PLX chips.

I’d imagine it’s the PCIe variant, not much point in bridging AGP to PCI as they are essentially the same thing.

I’m intrigued though, never thought about trying my PCI-X Parhelia in 9x.

The odd thing about the PLX chip is that it branches out to both sides of the PCI-X connector ..If its PCIe that does make sense.

Well I assume that chip really does communicate with all 64 bits of the pci. What is on the other side, you’ll have to pop off thr heatsink I suspect. And look up the core of the gpu.

Techpowerup has a good database for this.

I’m hoping this card might bring some new performance numbers to 430hx builds.

Any word on wether or not the drivers need 686 instructions?

fyi, fix your title please. and the plx chip mentioned is a PCI to PCI bridge.

Try rtm, sp1 or sp2

I’m kinda thinking rtm may be best bet. Seems like compatibility just kept getting worse with time.

Back when these cards were semi-newish I bought one for $75, the only reason I didn’t buy a boatload of them was because of drivers or should I say lack of 9x drivers

I sold it with my Duron and Windows 2000

Would have put them in the k6-2-450-550’s I was clearing out at the time if it had 9x drivers

Ah well , I think Matrox miscalculated that some people would have used them under 9x
Not including a 9x driver was another shoot in the foot.

I think not. Parhelia was targeted more for professionals, which were using NT for a while at that time (2002). There was no point in wasting resources for supporting dying home user OS.

IIRC the G500 series had 9x drivers but it was also much slower than the G400 series, Im still on the look out for a G450 MAX.
