Driver: 3.02.02

System: PentiumIII 700 mhz, 384 Sdram, geforce 4 ti4200, ga-6bx7 gigabyte motherboard

Issue: My voodoo card displays a distorted blue palette image whenever its used, both in windows and in game
It also happens when i play a 3dfx game directly without the pass through cable and i have tried two different monitors with the same result.
Is there anything wrong with my card or is it my settings? in the voodoo 2 tab in the windows settings i cant set the resolution above 640x480 but i can play games in 800x600 and the hertz slider is stuck at 60hz and grayed out

Pentium MMX 200mhz. s3 virge vx + voodoo 1 64 MB SDRAM
Pentium 2 300mhz geforce 2 gts + voodoo2 SLI 256 MB SDRAM
pentium 3 933 mhz voodoo3 3ooo AGP. 512 MB SDRAM
Pentium 4 2.8ghz geforce 4TI 4200
Intel 3770 geforce 780
Intel 10700k Geforce RTX 3080

Thanks for the pictures!👍
It appears that R148 is missing on your card. (above the PCI connector, next to the RAMDAC)
I was expecting different components to be missing/broken but this is a start.
On other cards with the same layout this is a 332 Ohm resistor. Do you know how to solder?

no but im planning to get into it. is it a beginner friendly operation?

if i use another voodoo 2 12 MB in SLI, and use this faulty one as the secondary card connected with SLI cable but not using the VGA PORT. Does that mean the issue will be bypassed since its the other voodoo 2 card using its VGA connection?

Most likely, yes.
Since the colour problem is also in 2D it's most likely an issue passing the analogue video signal to the VGA port.
If you use another card as primary the problematic one is not involved with the analogue side of things.
I do not know what the missing resistor does on your card. Maybe it's part of controlling the chip that switches between internal/external video source?

I would not recommend an absolute novice to try this as their first soldering project. It's very basic SMD soldering but if you haven't got a feeling for the process of soldering yet chances are you'll break something.
Practice a bit on old dead boards and come back to this card once you feel confident in your SMD skills.
