Hi, I recently picked up a Radeon 3850 AGP, but it isnt posting.

The card is warming up when touched, but no display at all.

I've tried 3 different systems + monitors, tried to use Igpu (nothing at all).
All power plugs are installed tightly too.

If the card is dead, any hope of getting it working?

I had mixed success with this card. On my Nforce 3 i have lots of cold boots, no image, but they do work (usually) on my 4coredual-sata2. I also had one that died during driver install.

Could be related to my chipset? Ive been testing on 865chipset boards & a S462 Via board
The card was sold to me as "working" though

I also had issues with NF2 socket a board, but have no via to test. They are picky GPUs. You can try letting it run for a few minutes in the dark then reset the pc, that might wake it up.

Unfortunately, no dice.
I might try to heat it up with a hair dryer or something to get it to boot

If you have any other boards, might give those a try as well, as I said...a very picky gpu.

Yea, no dice so far with any of my boards. Might end up keeping it as a decor piece : )

I think that it is well known that the pci bridge on these cards fails easilly. So if you are going to use the hairdryer, try the bridge first. That's my advice.

Yea, Ill definitely try that, thanks!

edit: no dice 🙁 guess its just a decor piece

Not sure if this is necroposting but

The card posts with the IGPU now!
Atiflash isn't detecting it though.
Bios seems to be detecting SOMETHING since its able to run AGP bus at 8x (while igpu only runs at 4x)

Should I mess with AGP control driver?
