Hope it is OK to bump this old thread, but with some assistance from vetz we have now archived the Reelmagic version of Flash Traffic. It comes on 3 CD's which I think might be a contender for the biggest commercially released DOS game?

Still hoping that one day we uncover those Sierra games 😀

I have basically all of those games on the first part of the list...unfortunately I still have not dug Conspiracy out of storage, but I recently picked up the Prince game and I should have that on hand. I am willing to archive it if someone tells me the preferred method to do so.

I also have a question - is anyone trying to emulate the Reelmagic calls so that these games can be run without a physical board?

Well, I still hope that you will be able to share it one day...

Great, thanks in advance!
One person from Mobygames has also promised me to archive this game, but - who knows when.
The preferred method - is to make the images of the disks (if they do not have CD Audio tracks and complex copy protection, then ISO and Daemon Tools, ISO Buster, Alcohol etc. would be enough) and to upload them to Archive.org 😀

As far as I know - no... There were some rumors from the ScummVM people about plans to add the support of 'Return to Zork MPEG' to their interpreter, but I doubt that would happen any time soon.

Hmmm....I wonder who that could have been! LOLOLOLOL

I've never uploaded anything there but I'll ask my bud Dosnostalgic if he can do it for me...he's helped me in the past with that.

That really sucks - someone needs to figure this out.

Hmm. Now I see some tiny resemblance in the name 😀

Well, any other file sharing service would be fine, too, but Dosnostalgic and Archive.org sound better, thanks!

I've been trying to get that flash traffic game to run on my reelmagic lite, I have the digital fullvideo rebranded one that I believe uka also has, in dos I get like a slightly tinted orange screen where the FMV is supposed to be but no fmvs play, so its just text w audio

weird

these are confusing cards, wondering if its because my 2d card is unsupported, I was using a PCI Ati 3d Rage Pro with it's feature connector; causes freezes in 98

we don't seem to have any newer topics on this, but the reelmagic cards are rather interesting, I haven't seen any footage of the MPEG version of flash traffic uploaded anywhere either, if I can get this to work I'll upload it.

psychoticgiraffe, have you run 'Border Adjust' in Windows? Do other MPEG videos show for you, like those on the demo disk?
Then again, it could be some Feature Connector problems on your PCI Ati 3d Rage Pro.
I had no problem running 'Flash Traffic'. I think I have not made any video yet, but there are some screenshots: https://www.old-games.ru/game/screenshots/10675.html

I actually cannot even run the demo disk that came with the card nor the psychotron disc because my CD Drive cannot read them, it reads windows 98/95 install media fine, and even some 3.1 game cds i have fine, but anything reelmagic that came with the sealed new in box card fails to read.

I did a test extracting the ISO images for flash traffic and using fakecd to mount the folder containing the extracted isos and it runs the game, but the FMV is just a blank faint orange tint and the videos do not play whatsoever, making it just text u can click on with no actual visible video.

I tried using 2.01 and 2.21

My suspicion so far is that its either something to do with the way i'm emulating the cd drive by extracting the isos and running fakecd, my ati 3d rage pro, or both

My spec list:

Epox P55-TX2 430tx chipset w amd K6 300mhz, 64mb ram, Ati 3d Rage Pro PCI, Soundblaster 16 ISA (sound works), Reelmagic lite(the fullvideo digital rebranded one you have), a 2004 DVD/CD drive liteon branded IDE;

I would try using border adjust but in 3.1 my card has no driver, in 98 it does but my installation of 98 keeps being sabotaged by the ati rage pro's communication with the reelmagic

What do you mean - no driver in 3.1? It is included in drivers, you should just install them from 3.1.
Can't say much about your configuration - it looks like too modern for RealMagic/Fullvideo lite : )
I use it on 386 PC with ISA card - on Pentium PC I have a later RealMagic Maxima.
But maybe it should still work fine for you...

Oh I mean my ati card has no driver in 3.1, so I don't get proper colors or resolutions, at least I couldn't find any for the ati 3d rage pro.

do the reelmagic cards depend on a CD Drive at all or can they run using fakecd/fakedr or virtual cd drives in windows or dos?

how is the quality difference between the Maxima and the fullvideo lite? any pictures for comparison?

I think I recall that the maxima had issues running some of the titles

it is a rather modern config, I'm curious if I will be able to make it function if i switch a few things

Ah, you meant ATI drivers... I though you were talking about RM.

There should be no problem with Virtual CD drive in Windows - I have used it in Windows 98.
But I do not know if there are such virtual drives for DOS or 3.1?

About problems with different RealMagic cards - I used to talk about that in other topic: Issues with ReelMagic EM7011 ISA card

Well, good news!
Someone has recently shared a whole bunch of REALmagic games 😀

I am updating the list.

I. The games that certainly exist.

Ia. DOS games
1. Dragon's Lair.
2. Space Ace.
3. Return to Zork.
4. The Horde.
5. Entity.
6. Flash Traffic.
7. Crime Patrol.
8. Drug Wars (Crime Patrol 2).
9. Lord of the Rings.
10. Man Enough.
11. Conspiracy.
12. Space Pirates.
13. Return to Cyber City.

Ib. Windows games
14. Prince Interactive.
15. The Psychotron.
16. Silent Steel.

All games are available now, except 12 and 13 (but their owners have promised to share the images), and 10 only has 2 disks available out of 3.
'Entity' (#5) is a special case as the game does not work in MPEG mode by default and requires modifications .
'Silent Steel', while produced by Sigma Designs, is not RM-exclusive - it does support any MPEG drivers, including software ones.

II. The games that probably or possibly exist (there are pictures and trailers), but it is not proven by disk images or testimonies of the owners.
17. Cowboy Casino.
18. Video Cube - Space.
19. Brain Dead 13.
20. The Last Bounty Hunter
21. Dragon's Lair II.
22. 11th Hour.
23. Dune.
24. Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers.
25. King's Quest VI.
26. Police Quest 4.
27. Under a Killing Moon.

I am almost certain that at least numbers 17 and 18 were actually published - they are just not found yet. Numbers 19 to 22 could exist as well.
The rest are more dubious.

III. Not games.
Well, and there are 37 more titles that are not actually games! There are three interactive movies for kids, a couple of encyclopedias, but the rest are multimedia titles - collections of movie clips, professional education videos etc. I have actually bought several of them - and yes, just like 'Silent Steel' they are NOT ReelMagic exclusives and could be run on any PC with software MPEG decoder. So I won't even list them here 😀

Nice detective work and compilation!

BTW, Silent Steel also has an MPEG2 version released in DVD-ROM.
