I picked up Populous The Beginning from a charity shop for a euro..
Installation went fine. I patched the game to version 1.01.
Is there a definitive method to get this game to start on Windows XP, preferably the Direct3D version of it.

I wasn't sure if I could post the above link, as 1.03 seems to include a NOCD routine as part of the patch, but the file is linked from a popular gamespy site and hosted on fileplanet. Apologies if this is against VOGON's ethics.
Recently The unofficial 1.05 patch for populous TB was also released, on the populous resurrection website. Yet the website is down?
That patch fixed the graphic glitches that are visible when using more modern videocards (like the geforce 2), so that is a great feature. (But the starter only seems to work on windows 2000/XP+).
