They include a DOS version, but I can't seem to install it, even with VDMS sound. It doesn't copy anything over.

Try installing it without using VDMSound, sometimes running VDMSound on the installer can produce "unpredictable" results. You can always run the sound setup at a later time.

Also, be aware that the DOS version requires DOS VESA support. It seems to work fine with a GF3, not sure about the Radeon 9800.
