Hello,
I hope this is the right forum, so please be a bit understanding. I'm looking for a public domain emulation environment (assembler, simulator) that I can use to teach students the Intel X86 architecture. I'm only interested in going up through 8086, although I can also do 80486 and just omit the MMU and FPU.

I would like for a student to be able to write a simple assembly language program and be able to debug it and execute it in a simulation environment. It should be able to do simple console I/O and perhaps simple 8.3 file I/O.

I've been using the Easy68K environment to teach the Motorola 68K architecture and I will continue to use it. I'd like to add the Intel architecture as well. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance.
