wiki is a great idea

a question that occurs to me is regarding useful links and to what extent you pull some of that info in [as links tend to die over time].

How about the ability to upload drivers and other software related to hardware?

@NitroX infinity
We already have http://www.vogonsdrivers.com

See this sticky thread:
The Unofficial VOGONS Driver Library

About the Wiki: Great idea! I also keep a list of bookmarks of useful/interesting threads. Even if I turn on notification in a thread I can't see which threads I marked unless I visit the thread.

I know, but combining the two would make for an even better site.

Some of you may have noticed that the forum tends to be rather repetitive. New people arrive with the same questions about old hardware that have been asked many times. Forums aren't ideal long term information archives.

Agreed. For example, look at this ancient thread, in which several people (including myself) write about how nice it would be to have a wiki. 🤣

I can host it if needed, I've got a couple of dedicated servers in a data centre.

Would people want to use media wiki? Also we probably need a another domain name or at least a sub domain, again I am happy to purchase this.

Wiki is online!

We might need some admins/mods etc.

You cannot seriously call it Vogons' wiki...
Come on, at least put a big "42" in one corner 😉

VOGONS Wiki: Not as bad as a Vogon's poetry.

This could be insanely good, loaded with build guides, hardware lists, pictures, the whole hog.

Lists like "List of sound cards with genuine Yamaha OPL FM chips." "List of motherboards known to have fake cache" "List of ATX motherboards with ISA NMI support" stuff like that. They /could/ be forum posts, but a wiki is more suited I reckon.

It can easily exist alongside VogonsDrivers too. We could even make a Mediawiki "template" for linking to drivers, so it pulls in the file name and size and whatnot, directly into the wiki page, live from the source.

Hey guys,

So yeah I've never really used MedaiWiki before (other than wikipedia), so suggestions and help are more than welcomed!

Okay, I've disabled anonymous edits and fixed up the server so that email now sends out.

Should be pretty good to go.

Hey SquallStrife, good motto!

how about a slightly modded version: Vogons wiki. 'bout half as bad as Vogons poetry.

or

Vogons wiki. Hits faster than the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster.

or

Vogons wiki. Mostly clueless. 😀
