I don't know if this problem should go in here, but i'll comment it here anyway. The links in the Windows 3.1 Guide by Dominus,in the DOSBox Guide section, are broken. The images are also missing. I tried contacting him by PM,but he never answered the message I sent him. Can someone try contacting him to get the links and the images fixed? Thanks beforehand!

Thanks for the link! Just one question - I used to use the older S3-VGA_864141B5.zip driver for the S3 emulation.
This was back in the days of DOSBox 0.63, I think. Later, this driver caused issues and I replaced it
with the normal S3 Trio32/64 driver which solved certain issues (corrupted mouse cursor and occasionally crashs, if my memory serves).
So I wonder, what is recommend for the current builds of DOSBox or the CVS releases ?

It's not that I didn't see it nor that I'm not aware of this problem. It's just very low priority and I am busy with many more pressing things.

Just from my own experience, v1.41 of the S3 drivers worked better for me in Windows 3.1. I don't doubt that 1.69 might have improved something, but I could not get Paintbrush to work on it (it would not draw anything), whereas 1.41 worked fine.

I use version 1.70 of the drivers and I don't have any problems.

Wait, wasn't there recently a similar thread about Virge 325 emulation and Win 3.1 Paintbrush in PCem forums ? 😳
I checked that on my real Virge 325 and didn't have had the problem described (was using Virge drivers from S3 legacy).

Can someone lock this topic please? We're getting off topic right now.

Excuse ? This was about broken links, which I thought drivers were a part of.
So I was initally asking if the older S3 drivers were still valid (for DOSBox);
which chickenpee was so nice to give me/us an answer for.

Plus, he also informt me/us about another issue with S3 drivers (the Trio32/64 has the same 2D core as Virge 325, btw.)..
And as a means to thank him, I gave feedback about my experience with Paintbrush and a real Virge.
(the PCem thread speculated if a real Virge would have the same issue.)

Anyway, its's your thread and I wasn't going to bloat it any further.
(If he was interested in details, such as photos, etc. I would have rather sent him a PM anyway.)

Edit: I apologize for going off topic.

If you want to discuss a different thing, make a new topic and problem solved!

Thank you. Please never mind. My posts weren't well worded either, I'm afraid.
I was just worried about the actuality of the guide in respect of the S3 emulation.

That's why I thought it would be a good idea to ask about the right drivers, too.
The question about Virge was meant more as a rhetorical question, also.

I didn't mean to discuss these things any further in this thread.
So if this thread gets closed, I'd be fine with it, too. :)
