Here is a picture of my SB 1.5, bought in 1990!

Can anyone tell me what version DSP this is? This article points out the difference between versions 1 and 2, but other than knowing I don't have v2, can I find out my actual DSP and any other revision numbers?

Thanks.

Install the card, download Doom MBF 2.04 in my signature, run setup.exe and configure the card, then go to the setup Test option and look at the detected DSP version in the scrolling text.

--> ISA Soundcard Overview // Doom MBF 2.04 // SetMul

Here is a util I wrote ages ago, dumps the dsp version and copyright if present. A lot easier than downloading doom + running setup, especially if your processor is xt or something...

Thanks guys for your help. Unfortunately I don't have access to the card right now 😊 it's in storage. So I take it there's no way by telling the DSP version just from the chip labels?

a 1.5 is a 1.0 without the cms chips, so a 1.xx DSP, but some had v2.00 DSP from factory, and some were user upgraded to 2.00 as Creative offered it as an upgrade chip separate.

so you could have a v1.? or v2.0 dsp... without running a tool to check, its will be unknown.

Actually, I think I can already exclude having a v2 DSP. Here is a picture of one, and that doesn't match mine. So I have version 1.something, to be more precise. 😀

Nope, no way to tell by just looking at the chip itself unless maybe the DSP version is printed on the chip itself under the sticker.. My 1320C has the sticker on the DSP, but there are some physical differences when compared to your card.

1. Most of the capacitors are yellow on my card.
2. There is a resistor jumpering pins 4 and 8 on the IC in the upper right hand corner of your picture.
3. The crystal (XTL1) in the upper left hand corner is a small round one.
4. Almost all the ICs are branded differently then the ones on your card.

So definitely a different run of cards.

I could always pop my card in a machine and check the DSP version real quick, but that would not really mean anything on your end unless the serial numbers were really close which I kinda doubt.

Do you know the serial number of your card? Mine is 174965

Where would I find that? On the other side of the card...? Because in my infinite wisdom, all those years ago, I only took pictures of the front side of my card 😊
