Not necessarily, but I do get the feeling that ATX is much more common for Slot 1 in general. But still there are things like Asus P2B-B. The article says that many "Chinese" manufacturers have done Slot 1 mobos for baby AT. I guess the implication is that big-name brands like Asus weren't likely to make products like this.

It's just that I already have some AT cases, PSUs and keyboards, so I really don't want to use ATX.

My eyes almost popped out then i saw this Intel D845WR motherboard listed for £23.82. But the joy went away when no shipping to Norway was possible 😵
It seemed strange that most things were possible to buy, but not this and some random other parts. Contacted the seller and the next day they replied it was some weird eBay thing that put some parts not available for international shipping, but corrected it manually. Rushed to press buy and im now a lucky owner of a socket 478 board with AGP and ISA 😊

i had a quad cd too, was very bad with cdr media, but compared to what came later i liked it a lot better; it never failed on its own mechanically (over years) - i took it apart to see how it worked ;p one way ticket to the bin

Last week, by sheer coincidence I think, my local market was flooded with interesting stuff. I have bought a few 486 motherboards and processors, some socket 7 stuff, a 386 DX 40 motherboard/cpu combo and some more bits and bobs. I will of course post pictures once I get the stuff!

And last but not least, I will pick up a mystery 19" 4U AT form factor system tomorrow. The seller 'thinks' it's a 486 'maybe', but I'm hoping it's PPro of course 😀 I guess the worst case scenario is an AT Pentium II. There is also a sound card visible in the pictures. Anyway, for 20 euro I'll take a gamble 😀

This looks almost identical to an Intel D845GECL and that is reported to support ISA bus mastering for DMA. I dont know if this is because of some bridge chip, but i dont think 845 supported ISA, or?

So am I. That is the case I found my dual pentium pro in. inside was an ASUS P65UP5.

Matrox Parhelia P650, PCI. Yes, the cable in the picture is wrong. Before buying I contacted the seller and was assured they will send the original LFH60 cable, not a DMS59. We shall see.
This will go in a PCI-only build with a Voodoo2 - or maybe 2 in SLI depending on my mood.

Also just grabbed this blue-heatsink beauty.

The auction didn't specify it, but a little bit of research revealed that it's a VisionTek Xtasy 6964 (Geforce3 Ti500). I had back in the day a Ti200 but traded it soon afterwards for something else. I always felt that I hadn't played that card to its full potential. Well this should fix that.

Going to be the base for my Windows XP build. Not sure what GFX card to use with it. I have a GTX260 and a HD4890.

HD 4890 is the fastet of both, but you can use the GTX 260 there and save the HD 4890 for a faster build like Core 2

The mystery has been solved! Unfortunately, no Pentium Pro machine hidden in the 19"case. But I was happy nontheless!

The motherboard is an Intel TX one, can't find any markings now. EDIT: Some Googling tells me it's a Shuttle HOT-569

I don't have time to disassemble it yet, but the original reason I started this retro hobby is to rebuild my first own real computer, A Cyrix 6x86L PR200+ on an Abit T/P?X5 with a Quantum Bigfoot. So this systems is quite close!

And that for just 20 euro.

I have no idea what to do with the case though, I have to many already...

Those Quantum Bigfoots are notoriously SLOW ala 3600RPM. I have two of the 2.5GB variants, but both have bad sectors. Did I mention they are slow? I've watched ice melt faster in a freezer. 🤣

Second haul for today: a 486 VLB mainboard, Intel i486 DX/2 66MHz, RAM,VLB interface card and ISA video card set. Sold as working, but has some battery acid damage, the battery is gone and someone sloppy-soldered a few wires where the battery was, and then those wires were cut off again. Maybe I'll get around to testing the set tomorrow. Still very happy with it! I paid 30 euro including shipping, local seller.

Yeah, I know 😁 But they are a nice curiosity, even back in the day they were a bit unique!
