I have tried Dosbox several times in the past and I have never been able to get it to work, but I haven't ever tried too hard either. I decided to give it a try again and I'm not sure how to let Dosbox know where the game I want to play is. I read the instructions on mounting a drive and I think I understand that. However, I could simply download a game to my hard drive and then mount a drive in Dosbox with its name and that doesn't mean it will work, right? So, my question, how do I let Dosbox know where to locate the game I want to run?

You have to think the other way around 😀

Ask yourself: How do the downloaded game want its world to look like? Which drives, which folders does it want to access?

Once you know the answer to that, you use the DOSBox mounting to re-create that view of the world.
