I got some FPM memory to test my Mobo: http://www.ebay.com/itm/331863174752

The boot seems to go fine until I get 2 beeps. They seem to indicate "Failure- One of the hardware tests have failed. Frequently caused by failed ram, but not always." (http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/the- … eep-guide.95391)

This memory was sold as tested, so if it's fine what else could be the problem? Can I somehow test that the mobo isn't corrupted and therefore can't read any memory before getting more and different memory.

Plus I get the exact same beeps with my other EDO memory.

What happens? Do you hear memory test tick sounds, or only two beeps? Floppy seek?

I heard silence, some tick sounds and then two beeps. I have only CPU, memory and VGA card attached.

Here is the audio recording: http://vocaroo.com/i/s10A5hkWOI1Q

My observations on the similar motherboard "TK 8498F /GP 4N D24":
-Proper boot: 1 short beep on PC Speaker.
-Failed boot because VLB graphics card is not seated properly: 1 longer beep then 3 quick beeps.
-Removing all memory chips: beep - pause - beep - pause - beep - pause .. with no end.

It does not produce the memory checking tick sound, but that may be because of the BIOS that I flashed.

It figures, Since earlier I flashed an award BIOS for this board: "Award v4.50G BIOS from 09/08/1995".
It matches the beep codes in the second post here, not AMI but Award: http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/the- … eep-guide.95391
Yours is still AMI... I understand there is no message on the screen at all? Which is kinda odd because it should show the memory checking that is audible. Maybe try the seating of the VLB video card. One of my VLB video cards has this problem that when fully inserted it fails, but it is fine when I pull it a little.

Ok, I got picture with new analog monitor! Seems that the monitor that I got with the computer was not working.

The memory is working nicely with 7808KB. It appears two beeps indicated KB/Interface error. I've tried with 3 keyboards and none is working. Lights on the KB briefly light up but that's all. What you guys think, can it be the fault of that broken component in C2 or the corroded tracks?

Thanks everyone for suggestions!

I guess the next step would be to make bootable dos disk to test the floppy drive. Maybe even get that HD working..

It is a little blobby, isn't it. No marks for neatness, but working is working!
