I have recently dug up most of my old dos games (been playing DukeNukem II and Raptor a lot) and found Cyclones in the mix. I recalled loving the game as a child, but being too stupid to actually play it properly :p

So I figured I would install it on my new computer. Now I am too stupid to install it :p

So if anybody has gotten this game to work, could you tell me how? I run Windows XP (thus the reason I use DosBox).

On the off chance that these are usual problems, here is what I have noticed that I have run into

1. It cannot detect a cd drive.
2. It requires a boot disk. I set up a seperate folder on a hard drive and mounted that as the A drive, not sure if it will fall for it because...
3. When I actually start the install it gives an error along the lines of "error during decompression/copy"

Don't have the game but you might want to try installing it under regular XP and then trying the game under XP and if that doesn't work then try DosBox.

If you do run it under XP then it appears that you may need to use Sapucdex: SAPUCDEX by SaPu

Hi, I know this is an old thread, but heck, why make a new one.

When I try to install this game from the CD, it says that it cannot find any drive with enough space. Cyclones requires 7700000 bytes.

When you install te game you should use the freesize command. Its in the dosbox instructions.

Thanks. That worked, but the game won't start. I type cyclones in order to get the game to work, but nothing happens. DOSBox sort of freezes and I can't type anything. During the setup I need to choose a sound card etc, could the problem lie here?

I have the disc imaged as a BIN/CUE set.

DOSBox.conf [autoexec]
CONFIG -set "cpu cycles=max"
MOUNT C C:\DOS\GAMES -t dir -freesize 400
IMGMOUNT D C:\DOS\Cyclones.cue -t iso
D:
INSTALL

After installing, it goes to the sound setup.

Drive D
Yes
Sound Blaster 16
IRQ: 7
DMA: 1
Port: 220

Though I did run into the screen flickering instead of displaying the IRQ dialog. I ran SOUND.BAT on it's own and was able to complete the setup.
