I'll have a look.

Awesome 😀

I've actually still never played this game. I was more of a Wing Commander guy. The manual, and controls are a bit complex, not on the level of a proper flight sim, but definitely substantial enough.

You can see how look that game on GoG. That DOS game is good to look at perfomance of processors because has max resolution 1024x768 and for that need a min 700-800 mhz to run smooth.

I'll keep an eye out for a special. Might do a Tweak Guide, but I'm sure they have cycle speed set to max, which should take care of things.

Anyway guys, I have a new video!

Incoming Gameplay Windows 98 Aureal Vortex A3D

This game is a pain to play on modern machines. There are graphics issues with Nvidia and AMD. Nvidia cards at least work, but the graphics end up worse than on original hardware. So I put together a system for this game and recorded some gameplay!

The PC is an AMD K6-III+ 400 MHz, 128 MB RAM, a Matrox G550 DVI graphics card and a Diamond Monster MX300 sound card. Played at 1024 x 768 with A3D surround over headphones.

To get the most out of this video you need to use headphones. Disable any audio post processing, such as CMSS-3D or SBX.

I'm playing with a joystick, it's the Thrustmaster T.16000M. Captured from the DVI output.

The game is quite cool. Mouse and keyboard controls I found quite average, best for was AWSD keys + USB joystick. The game feels looooooooong. Lots of levels, but with enough changes to keep it interesting. I believe to finish the game you would need to practice it quite a bit. There is a function to save, which I should have made use off. I guess you keep saving until you die, and then just re-try from that save point.

Graphics are a feast IMO. So colourful, bright, lots of animations. There is a scene with you protecting an airfield and transport planes taking off, quite a sight.

A3D over headphone sound is amazing. It seems to use that same helicopter sound features in the A3D demo. You can clearly hear it hover around behind you in the first stage. Great stuff.

Incoming Tweak Guide GOG

Wow, what a great game, but what a poor GOG release. This game simply does not work well out of the box. Really questioning why they chose to release it.

On modern AMD cards, the game will not even launch. And on Nvidia and Intel cards, there is corrupted graphics on the HUD / user interface elements.

In this Tweak Guide I am showing you how to:

- Increase the resolution to 1024 x 768
- Configure display scaling settings for a proper 4:3 aspect ratio correct image
- Fix the game not launching with AMD cards
- Fix the corrupt graphics with Nvidia and Intel cards
- My recommendations for input controls for this game

Mucked around with Windows 10. Here some very easy, and short, guides:

1000 subscribers thank you

I started this channel at the end of September 2014, and today, not quite a year later, my channel has 1000 subscribers!

This might not be a big number to many, but it is a big number to me. Thank you for your support in watching my videos and hopefully I can continue making lots more videos in the future.

Did a video review on the DreamFace S1 and DreamFace S1 Enclosure

The DreamFace S1 is an interface board that allows you to connect the DreamBlaster S1 wavetabele board to a MIDI port on sound cards or USB MIDI interfaces.

I will talk about pricing and show you how to assemble it and how to use it with your sound card or USB MIDI interface with DOSBox or ScummVM.

Quake: The Offering Tweak Guide

In this video I am showing you how to get the most out of Quake: The Offering, a recent release from GOG.com.

I will be using a modern Quake engine, Quakspasm, show you how extract the audio files from the CD images, how to de-emphasise the Quake audio files (this is not needed for the mission packs) and where to place the audio files so that the game has working music.

Doom GOG Tweak Guide

In this video I am showing you how to tweak the GOG.com release of Ultimate Doom, Doom II and Final Doom.

This is a great release, with GOG providing the latest versions and included all SETUP files.

These old games can be played in DOSBox for an authentic experience or through a source engine offering widescreen resolutions, better graphics and surround sound.

I am showing you how to tweak both, and also how to use General MIDI SoundFont with these games.

Branching out a little bit and have been mucking around with Amiga emulation. Now I'm quite new to anything Amiga, I did have an A500 for a short while when I was a teenager. A class mate told me that he found no buyers for his old Amiga, so I bought it off him. I played on it for a few days and then sold it again for a little profit. I had it when it was past it's life, but I was still mighty impressed.

One issue is obtaining the Kickstart ROM that all the emulators need. For $10 you can buy Amiga Forever, which includes the Kickstart ROM. However it is encrypted, and unlike the $30 version of Amiga Forever, doesn't include the rom.key file, which UAE can use to decrypt.

But there is a workaround.

In this video tutorial I will show you how to use Amiga Forever and dump the Kickstart ROM from within the emulator. All the tools required come with Amiga Forever. Once the Kickstart Rom has been dumped, it can be used with your favourite Amiga Emulator 😀

Yes! I will definitely do a, aimed at beginners, guide to configuring and tweaking an emulator. Because I'm a beginner, this should be very useful for other beginners as well.

^ have a looksie on the "window shortcuts" here: http://wiki.amigaos.net/wiki/Using_the_keyboa … ntrol_Workbench , you can see the combo to display all files in drawers - not just those with icons. Some are really really useful when messing with files 😊

That's very handy to know!

AFAIK Workbench 1.3 doesn't support this though, but not 100% sure 😢 1.3 is what the cheap version of Amiga Forever comes with.

ah yes, 1.3 does have that limitation ... so they only sell the 1.3 ks/wb now as the cheapest option? wow... they used to sell a package with all the versions some time ago. I guess they sell the "amiga 500 emulation package" 🤣
I own several AF versions with the DVDs etc but in the last couple of years it became a behemoth with crappy lock-down options. IMHO you only need it to legally own kickstarts/workbenches - you can do much more stuff with a WinUAE setup and a pre-made environment like Classic Workbench.

I got the Plus Edition upgrade yesterday, it was $20. The regular Plus Edition costs a whopping $30. The Plus Edition is the version that has ALL the ROMs included:

Extracting Kickstart ROM from Amiga Forever Plus Edition

The Plus Edition of Amiga Forever contains all the Kickstart ROMs that you can wish for.

The Kickstart ROMs can be written to an ISO image, then burnt onto a DVD or mounted in a virtual disc drive. Alternatively you can just copy them from the Amiga Forever installation folder.

I am also showing you how to import the Kickstart ROMs into FS-UAE, a popular UAE based Amiga Emulator.
