Need to verify on 9x with and without kernelex

Roytam1 browsers
https://sourceforge.net/projects/kmeleon/file … C3.exe/download
http://o.rths.ml/gpc/files1.rt/seamonkey-2.28-win32.7z

I can confirm two things, KM75RC3 runs with KernelEx, and SeaMonkey 2.28 will not run without.
I'm running KM75RC3 and SeaMonkey 2.32 with KernelEx on Windows 98SE, both with JS disabled because otherwise it will crash the browser.

Both browsers will render an error message after closing them, no matter if JS is disabled or not. Also, SeaMonkey needs to recreate the user profile every time you run it, because disabling JS before loading any site will also disable things like the address bar from working properly next time you run the browser.

My Windows 98se is fully updated, has KernelEx with 4.5.2019.24 updates, jumper updates as well. Also installed MSXML.

Has anyone else had trouble getting Retrozilla to work on Windows 95?

I tried installing Retrozilla 2.2 on my Win95b (OSR2.0) machine but it doesn't start. It just displays the Retrozilla splash screen and then... the splash screen vanishes and nothing else happens. No debug output anywhere, and I can't seem to make it produce a log file either.

It's a more-or-less fresh install of Win95b. Is there a chance I might be missing some required DLLs?

Please can you give working link/reup the Advanced Chrome 69 for XP mentioned in 1st post?
I google only Advanced_Chrome_v69.0.3445.0 that is for Win7+ and doesn't run in XP neither with one-core-api.
I found only version 54.20.6530.0 working in XP but it doesn't display some webs.
But according to some comments at taokaizen.com it seems that the version 69 never worked well in XP so it was probably reason why it was removed, so maybe it should be also removed from 1st post to not confuse others...

Any news on the great work done by Roytam1 on various browsers for our old Windows 9x (and XP) babies? =P

Cameron Kaiser just announced his plans to end TenFourFox for PPC OSX and Classilla for PPC OS9. Sad day but understandable.

yeah that's a bit sad about this.

BTW Crypto Ancienne is appeared in Classilla's post. I wonder if there is a windows port for it.

BTW, any chance to port your NSS Netscape 9 updates to PPC Netscape 9? I know it would be a bit harder task...

I've been researching a bit lately and I have a suggestion.

I think we can get around this, compiling a version of Classilla with your changes, by using a macOS 9.2.2 QEMU VM. Is it possible, realistically speaking?

I think it's just needed to install CodeWarrior 7.1 on this VM to try and compile. I noticed that you have forked the Classilla repository before, I suppose you did it for other reasons (for Retrozilla study references maybe?) and has a branch for tls 1.2 experiments on it. May be worth an experiment now?

Cameron has a wiki on how to build it: https://github.com/classilla/classilla/blob/m … HowToBuild.wiki

CodeWarrior 7.1 Pro: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/codewarrior-pro-71

Probably the build time in a QEMU VM will be a lot longer than expected, but if it builds, would be a win-win situation. What do you think? If we have success, we could contact Cameron to rebrand it as Retrozilla for PPC OS9.

A version of Classilla with TLS 1.2 support would run on more than just OS 9, it would cover the need for a browser on OS X Cheetah, Jaguar and Panther as well, by using the Classic mode.

there're too many troublesome in classic mac like data/resource forks, line endings, project files, etc.

I see... well, that's ok. The last days I have thought that a web proxy like WRP or Browservice are the best solutions IMO. The internet will keep evolving but these browsers won't. Simply adding newer TLS and certificates won't make them automagically work as intended, since nearly all pages will be broken due to newer HTMLS/CSS versions. So a web proxy to work around https and use other browsers rendering engine remotely is the best solution. However this solution just isn't 100% great if you are on the move with a mobile device and a emulator, like me. So far Browservice has been surprising me lately.

I think XP will face the same fate soon, because I have noticed a trend in the market for use of javascript frameworks to build the websites fully based on JS, like vue, react, angular... classic web pages are set to disappear, sadly. There are efforts to keep them alive, though. As a former front-end web developer (now an UI/UX designer), I am not a fan of javascript libraries/frameworks either. I try to push to my team solutions that are not based on JS, but works the same way, everyday.

Firefox 88 is out. They are going fast in the version numbering scheme race.
Updated Seamonkey entry too.

It is kinda ridiculous - every tiny detail change for them is a "major update". I guess that they gave the finger to major/minor/patch numbering scheme used by many professionals...

If Firefox had stuck with a *normal* versioning scheme, they'd be on version 7.2 or something right now. But no, that was too neat and organized for them.

I flermmed the plootash just like you asked.
