Yesterday evening I noticed Wing Commander III Heart of the Tiger can now be downloaded for free on Origin. Just thought there may be some of you who'd like to know...

Cool! Downloading it. Anyone know more details?

DRM? Does it use DOSBox or a Windows client? 3x CD images or a single DVD image? Different to the GOG.com version?

Ships with DOSBox 0.73 😒

It's got the screen flashes between videos and the tearing.

Also uses a DVD image DATA.DAT just like the GOG.com release.

Easy to extract and play in a newer DOSBox or burn the image to DVD and play it on a DOS machine.

Can you actually use DVD's on DOS machines? I never knew that...

It's my Wing Commander III (GOG.com Version) DOSBox / MS-DOS Installation and Tweak Guide.

I show how to make the iso, burn it, install and configure the game. The whole works 😀

Any advantage over the CD version?

Having a DVD copy too is nice, I guess.

Thanks for the heads up.

Also the Origin PDF manual, is a scan of the CD manual, after someone put it through the dryer. As just wow are those scans in bad shape, unless they were deliberately Photoshopped to look like that.
