Update the seventy-first!

Late again! Lots of things happening! Apologies!

The first of this week's scripted videos was Infinite Doom. A guide as to how to create a completely free and infinite Doom-style FPS using the source code and all kinds of community additions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf6EKCoTu2o

The other scripted video? Pretty easy to explain! Want to install OpenJKDF2 for Jedi Knight? Here's a guide as to how! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3TIv4JrcHs

I also did a rare cover version of some music from Radix! Rocking! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZod95Jrbto

Why did I do that? Because I got to play Radix this week and it was awesome! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dc8wjYjqvNI

That's your lot this week! Apologies again for the lateness! I shall respond to all the comments in my next post!

Very nice channel, Lawnie! I liked the idea of random games and also your comments. Thank you and keep up the great work!

Thank you! I'll keep this going until the wheels fall off! I've got enough future content for about 20-30 years of live stuff. Here's hoping the scripted material will last that long too...

Speaking of which: Radix. Radix was fun. I shall be talking more about Radix in the future.

The person behind DelphiDoom has been working on making a game engine recreation to run Radix natively on modern systems

I read about this recently because Radix was so Doom-like! I was wondering if anyone had made a source port. I'll definitely be doing a showcase video about this soon. Sadly there doesn't appear to be one for Eradicator, which is a damn shame because that was also really fun to play.

Lawnie, can't seem to find Radix anywhere from the likes of GOG, Ebay and etc. Abandonware has a 8mb file but was hoping to get the full game or a CD.

Check DOSGamesArchive for Radix 2.0. I'll not link directly as I don't know forum policy on stuff like that, but it shouldn't be hard to find!

Update the seventy-second!

Greetings true believers! Lawnie is back with more videos!

This week's scripted video was about nostalgia, and how it just isn't what it used to be! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXl0n1snXa0

The second scripted video had Croina taking on the abysmal first level of Operation Bodycount. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoZ-cCuYY1w

The two notable games? Why Revolution Software's Lure of the Temptress of course! A fun point and click adventure game! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTuQkTgJJzk

The second was Acid Tetris, and watching me play a Tetris variant of any sort is like taking acid... so enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouFpYpvP1-Y

Short, sweet, and to the point! Shame my ramblings aren't all like that, eh? Until next time!

This is the ONLY Tetris game I ever play, haha.

It plays really fast and has demoscene music, pretty much. I ended up having to manually rip one of the songs because it was a modified version specifically for this game.

Update the seventy-third!

A very sick and tired Lawnie approaches! Don't let him get you ill!

This week's first scripted video was a new episode of 10 of the Best. This time it focused on Windows games from the 90s that you can't buy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AHFWIChWNs

The second video featured Croina's final battle against Capstone. With her taking on the horrific Tekwar, featuring William Shatner! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xt8E3lagSCo

Of the DOS games, only Star Command looked interesting. A mid-tier RTS with a space theme and an art style that reminded me of Blizzard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_l28hHbask

Though you might want to check out my video on Yacht Racing Simulator from 1986! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o987-7rHWVo

Okay, time to retire (for the time being). Busy times currently! Lawnie... away!

And yes, to get back to you on this, Acid Tetris is REALLY good. Probably will turn up in my next Top 25 good. Just so well-crafted and it's clear that a lot of love was put into making a definitive PC version of Tetris for DOS.

Update the seventy-fourth!

Like a dying albatross crashing into a window, Lawnie is back on Vogons to disrupt and annoy!

This week I returned to my green screen to discuss Beneath a Steel Sky, the classic point and click adventure game from Revolution Software! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlas_r2hG8Y

Sure, it wasn't scripted, but you know what was? My Quick Review of the classic racing game Stunts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBaWCCGrTRY

There was an important update video about my life and such: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCm013R65K8

And Random DOS Game land absolutely blessed me this week. Warcraft 2, one of my favourite games of all time! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5vRtppceDE

Pea Shootin' Pete was an excellent Pang clone from the folks at Pack Media. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFAOpZaeE9M

Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday marked the first time I played a Gold Box game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwNeUGeYjjQ

And even Burnout was fun! Even though I didn't understand the light system of Bethesda's drag racing sim. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4M3kP2HDD_4

One week. Seven videos. All killer, no filler! Not often I get to say that!

Lawnie... AWAY!

I'd love to see you do a video on the classic Sierra adventure game nobody remembers, Conquest of the Longbow.
You can find it on GOG, and it's a really excellent game. The intro song is actually timed perfectly to the lyrics of the bard's song as well, like they had planned a talkie version from the beginning but abandoned it.
It's also a great showcase game for the MT-32 or an emulator of one.

Funnily enough this was the very, very first thing I decided to stream on Twitch back in the early years of the platform.

I actually kept making tracks to intentionally trigger physics bugs because those were more amusing then racing around normally.

It was also one of my first reviews on the channel AND the first ever ADG video too. There's just something about Stunts that keeps people coming back!

I certainly think that can be arranged! It has been added to the (lengthy) list of things to do!

Update the seventy-fifth!

Greetings from a very tired Lawnie! Here's another weekly update of stuff and things!

This week I took on the latest version of DOSBox Pure for Retroarch with mixed results. It looks like an interesting way to play mid-90s Windows games with dodgy compatibility issues! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTDqf8TAjZQ

Sadly the only truly interesting game of note was the sci-fi point and click adventure game The Orion Conspiracy. Which could well be interesting, but failed to inspire me at the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpEfIVj6_LE

Seriously, everything else was rough. Even the other adventure title I came across called Black Sect. It wasn't good! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5X1wCKYseWM

Oh well! They can't all be banner weeks that drive the channel to new heights, I guess.

Lawnie... away!

Update the seventy-sixth!

Greetings fellow DOS gaming folk! It's Lawnie... again!

This week's scripted video has been done to death, and is my take on the ten best Star Wars games from the golden era of gaming. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Le_Od4JkRf4

Glook was a surprisingly playable Defender clone which I played badly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHO3KhVB478

Celebrity-heavy FMV murder mystery game Ripper had me spellbound for over twenty minues! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EG5sZ6z8ZXo

Likewise, Monopoly Deluxe from Virgin was an excellent recreation of the boardgame in DOS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKhPvBx95Q0

Last but not least was the DOS conversion of Pit Fighter. The worst high profile game I've played on the channel so far! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSy9vm8y_4E

That's your lot! Lawnie... away!

Hey, Lawnie. Thanks for the new episodes. I liked the Eradicator, a diamond in the dirt, so to speak.

No problemo!

Eradicator is one of those games I wish someone made a source port for, because so many of its ideas are neat but the resolution and framerate limit really hampers it. It's like a more advanced In Pursuit of Greed but with elements of immersive sim land starting to creep in there. Not a fan of all the switch hunting and timed puzzles though. Shall definitely make my next Top 25.

Update the seventy-seventh!

Like indigestion after too much bread, Lawnie is inevitable!

This week's scripted video was a shorter one imploring fans of 6DOF and FPS games to give RAD a try. RAD being a port of Radix 2.0 into Delphi Doom. Widescreen 60fps goodness! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIwoKyAO82k

Stardust was an Amiga port that played a half-way decent game of Asteroids, but embarrassingly I couldn't figure out the menu system! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tABpNck_uoQ

The real standout game as previously pointed out in this thread though was Eradicator. A Build-style FPS with a third-person mode and lots of interesting bits and pieces that went the full twenty minutes! Definitely worth a look at for fans of the genre who don't mind the capped frames and resolution due to a lack of source port. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zq3iYRKw6Wk

That's your lot unfortunately, here's hoping that next week will bring better results! Lawnie... away!
